Portal Ships

Portal Ships?

Epic Minecraft Ship

A portal ship is a sail or air ship that has an identical duplicate at an other far away port. When you enter the ship on either side, you are transported over to the other one. The effect is that the ship has traveled to the other harbor. Ships may be privately owned by players, or government owned.

In an effort to have an authentic role-playing travel experience, without the inconvenience of always having to walk long distances, we decided to do something unique. Portal ships were our solution to the sheer scale of Arda (30,000 x 30,000 blocks).

Another reason we have implemented portal ships is to encourage players to build near each other. Not everyone will immediately be able to afford a portal ship, but they may build within walking distance of another portal ship, or build a railway between their place and a town with a portal ship, keeping us all connected in a fun and unique way.

How do I Get a Portal Ship?

To qualify for a sail ship, both destinations must be touching ocean. We no longer service canals or swamps, to protect the natural terrain of Arda. Sail ships are not available inland. Inland locations may be services with an airship as outlined below. Ship designs that are to dock in Exodus must fit within the 61x25x50 plots as outlined in the Exodus Harbor, and are subject to very strict aesthetic standards. Ship designs that dock elsewhere are held to similar if not as stringent standards, but may vary in size.

To qualify for an air ship, both destinations must be above ground or have an opening with sufficient clearance for the air ship to navigate. Ship designs that are to dock in Exodus must fit within the 61x25x50 or 25x25x50 plots as outlined in the Exodus Sky Docks, and are subject to very strict aesthetic standards. Ship designs that dock elsewhere are held to similar if not as stringent standards, but may vary in size.

All portal sets cost 50,000.00 shillings. Ships that dock in Arda will be subject to an additional 2,000.00 shilling fee each month. Ship owners who default on their payment will have their ship removed. The player is responsible for building both ships.

Process of Setting Up a Portal Ship

  1. Ensure you have 50,000.00 shillings, or more if applicable, in your iConomy account
  2. Build one portal ship.
  3. Post a portal ship request here. Your request should include the following
Screenshot of your portal ship, to be approved.
Destination coordinate for Exodus bound connections; or both coordinates for other connections.
  4. If approved and applicable, construct the second portal ship.
  5. Both ship’s cuboid (the bounding area containing the ship)  should be free and clear of any blocks other than water and what belongs to the ship. Remove any scaffolding, ramps, dock, etc. Place two marker blocks at opposing ends of the cuboid.
  6. A Technician will create portal links and debit fees from your account.
  7. After a Technician has posted confirming the connection has been made, you are then to install docks to connect your ship to land.
