Hello all,

I, like many others, have been keeping tabs on the upcoming Minecraft update 1.6. Needless to say, I am very excited for what is coming! After searching through the Veterancraft forums, I have yet to find any mention of the upcoming update. What is the timeframe for its implementation?

Updates are much slower on servers like this due to the various plugins that must be updated as well. In a nutshell, whenever Bukkit comes out with a "recommended" build, we'll update. Sometimes that's as soon as a matter of days from the official version release. Most of the time, especially with new content heavy updates like this one, it could be weeks before all the bugs are ironed out and the server is "safe" for use.

Just look at the main page of the website and follow any links that Frelling posts. Our techs stay on top of things and are just as interested in playing the new versions as everyone else. However, they need to make sure that our play time isn't bogged down with errors and server crashes.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys.

That's about what I was expecting and while it would be nice to have it sooner, I understand the need for patience in such things.

And we appreciate the understanding :) Don't forget to NOT UPDATE when given the chance, otherwise you can't play on VC without some sort of complicated stuff that Pherian doesn't understand.

Frelling will keep us well informed of the update once it has started so don't feel like you need to ask for more info again, as it comes available it will be broadcasted on our website, forums, twitter and facebook. If you just have to know the second something happens, follow us on twitter and turn on mobile updates :)

So if I update my local client to play with the update privately on single player I will not be able to play on servers that have not yet updated? Is anyone here familiar with the "complicated stuff" Phenarian mentioned?

Forgive me for my noobness. I am still somewhat new to all of this.Confused

Also, thank you guys for the effective and quick responses!

Yes, if you update, it updates your client and you will not be able to connect to VC because of differing client versions.

So don't update until you've read a post from Frelling telling you its OK. :)

Here's some good news. 1.6 will be the first public release that requires the new launcher. If you accidentally update to 1.6, you can simply create a "1.5.2 profile" and the launcher will download 1.5.2 for you. I've played with the Windows dev version a bit and it's fun on a bun.
