Yo, LordEboshi here, long time fan, long time player,

I'm comin' here to state the obvious because it needs to be stated:

We've had a serious population decline over the last few months and we need to do something to reverse that.

Maybe more events, or hire some players to come and play or put out an ad online or maybe one of those planes that flies over the beach. Because I didn't start building so I could just end up with a dead server. Don't let this happen, man.

Over 'n' out, brujas.

Thanks, and please trust that you're not the first to notice this. :)

One of the more notable issues, is that we're outdated.  VeteranCraft is still on 1.7.4.  It's a particularly difficult update, as frelling discusses here.  Our userbase always suffers during these "update windows."

However, you are right that we've seen a serious population decline.  It's been happening for quite a while now, and it IS frustrating.  Some of it may be due to the age of Minecraft.  When the server opened, Minecraft was at a frenzy peak.  It's tapered off since then.  Minecraft can only hold most gamer's attention for so long.  Then they find other things.  We have lost a few regulars to League of Legends, I know.  And games like Rust emulate the survival + creative aspects of Minecraft, drawing off potential players.  It's the nature games.  You play until you are bored, or until a "better" game comes along to take your attention away.

Another aspect is that since installing the Newbie Spawn Trials, we weed out a lot more players.  So while fewer make it to Vetropolis, they're much less likely to break the rules.  This opposed to having a large number of players who may be actively breaking rules, or who are still trying out the server but really won't be staying.

However, it is true that the decline we've seen, and the point we're at's more than that.  The server needs re-invigorating, and staff knows this.

I won't say much more at this point, as it's not my place to do so, but I would encourage you to check out the Photo Stream on the home page.  Trust me, plans are in motion. Cool
