I'm tired of saying "I'm sorry" to you guys. So I will stop that and just improve on what I'm sorry about... As most of you know I've been overwhelmed with IRL the last month or so, then before that was the holidays, so I'm more out of the loop than is ideal, and new donors have suffered slow upgrade times, as well as all upgrades suffering backdated paychecks. That ends now. From here on out I am setting aside time specifically for VeteranCraft, so there will be no more 'aint nobody got time fo dat' excuse.

In case you were wondering why I was so gone.. No it's not because I lost interest in the server or that I bailed. There are several factors, including but not limited to family 'stuff', selling my old house, renovating the new house, then moving from the old house to the new house, then in doing so, getting behind with work, and on top of that picking up 5 new clients, all while trying to be a good husband and dad. I know you all respect that some things are more pressing when it comes down to real life than Minecraft, so I know you'll understand.

Now that we're moved, and we should be closing on our old place soon, and I'm getting all my clients projects on a proper time management schedule, I will be squeezing VeteranCraft into my time schedule.

First things on my list for VC:

  • Implement failsafes and SOPs in dealing with new upgrade accounts, as well as upgrade account paydays
  • Delegate specific tasks that have been traditionally held by exclusively myself or frelling
  • Get us on a steady community events schedule

I spent most of last night attempting to catch up in the forums, and while I did make a lot of headway, our forum only displays "50 threads with unread posts" as a max, and I'm pretty sure that max has been to the limit for weeks.

So... I want to ask you guys that if there are any particularly pressing or deathly important threads that I have overlooked that demand my attention, please PM me with a link to that thread or post in reply here. You're also welcome to give me a summary of what notable events might have transpired over my absence. meme2.jpg

We love you.

That's what you've missed.

Seriously, glad you're back, and completely understand that life does that. I bailed on VC for a while because I had two kids. Now that they're becoming quasi-semi-sort-of self-entertaining, I've got a bit of time back on here. We all understand that life comes first, as it should, and we're glad you've got your priorities straight. :)

Now if you would be so kind as to grant me three VeteranCraft wishes, I'll be on my way. :)

I told the doctor I broke my leg in two places. He told me to stop going to those places.

I'm glad to see this. As I do not know you, just yet, seeing as how I'm still semi new I suppose, I've read a lot on here, and heard a lot of different stories. Being a mother of 3 kids and 1 on the way I realize how life can grasp you at times and take you away from other dealings, so I've had I guess more patience in understanding your situation and why you haven't been around. I'm glad to see things are picking up after our downtime we had yesterday. I suppose, all I really wanted to say was, welcome back and I'm glad to finally meet you. :)

Hear, hear!  Well put.  We're just happy that you're back, meat.  RL is certainly more important, but it is always nice when it's not so insane that you can't squeeze some MC in now and then.  Or whatever sort of relaxing entertainment suits your fancy.

I don't think there are any critical bits or events you might have missed, other than we're all just being so awesome. Cool

Agree with everybody else, just really glad to see you back. :)  For the most part we held down the fort pretty well, but it was wierd not seeing you on for so long!

Also, I finished the skyscraper in Bilgewater, so as you have time, there's a floor or 2 or 3 with your name on 'em lol.

A few new projects have come up for the most part. Other than that, it's just nice to see you back. Smile

I have awesome shoulders.

No worries, I believe we all understand that real life events come first. I haven't been on much as well with work, school, family and so on. I did have a question on the whole donor salary issue, and I don't mean to come off in a bad way, but have you guys looked into an automated solution? I mean in general Paypal has API's that can be hooked into and considering this site I'm sure is running off a web server with cPanel or something similar. A CRON job could be setup to run like a Perl script to run through a daily query to pull Paypal status and then handle the appropriate function of either directly updating the database with any changes. Maybe this would give more of a dynamic twist on salary pay dates instead of the static from what I am aware of is being used. I used to have a similar setup on one of my counter strike servers way back in the day since manual management just became a pain.

Its just my two cents (I also professionally implement automated solutions for clients so maybe a bit bias ;) )

Automated upgrades/payments have been something on the "we would like to do this" list for quite some time.  Other things just have taken priority over it I think.  Definitely a good idea though

It's been on my wishlist for over a year. You'll have to talk to our tech team as to if and when it will ever happen. But to answer, yes, that would be my ideal solution.
