Hi everyone.

So, i've asked a few times on the server if there is some kind of public xp farm and nobody ever answered xD I also looked on the forums but couldn't find anything. So I'm asking here. Is there any kind of public or community farm or everybody just have to build their own?

 

I wanna start enchanting books and tools and i only need the exp and the way to get it, of course, but i don't want to start building a huge mob spawner (taking server resources such as RAM) if there already is one or a few xp farms (like an enderman trap in The End) for public use, which would make more sense from the point of view of the server resources.

 

If anyone could give me an answer, would be much appreciated.

As far as I know, there are not any public xp farms. However, there are many kind members on the server that own xp farms and, if asked nicely, might allow for you to use theirs. Also as a side note, there can't really be an Enderman grinder because The End is reset every so often.

Ah ok, I see. I'll figure something out, although i wonder if it's possible to reset just a section of The End :P

just as a side note, "huge mob spawners" that work without a spawner block (spinning mob in cage) don't really work on this server. they tend to not get any spawns, or if you get a few spawns, after a short while, you don't get any spawns any more. Even if the design works perfectly in singleplayer.

i think it has to do with the range of chunks that are loaded (visibility range server setting) which is lower than the standard here.

 

thought i'd save you the hassle of trying to build one ;)

Yep, you're right.. the best option is to find a mob spawner and make a trap, so i guess i'll be on the lookout for one of them..

The biggest problem with mobspawning is that the total limit counts for all players combined. So if player A has monsters in caves that aren't getting killed, player B runs out of spawns sooner or later.

Mob spawners only work when you're within a certain radius of them iirc (like around 16 blocks or less, I think). Speaking of xp grinders, as others have stated, the only grinders you're going to find on the server are those built by other players - and it's up to them to decide who uses them when.

I have 2 grinders myself. If you're a donor, just /res tp Triptych, otherwise, find my portal ship in Vetropolis (in the stand-alone shops area, it's small and looks like a viking longboat), go to my residence and take a look around. I have a zombie grinder by my cow farm. If you go south, cross the bridge and follow the path, you'll find a skelly grinder as well. I keep both pretty much open to whoever wants to use them and you're welcome to use either one whenever you want (as long as they're not already in use at the time by someone else, lol)....
