Hey everyone!
Dave here (well duh, you can read), and I was just curious about everyone's feelings about what is going on in the new snapshots with all the terrain gen changes, enhanced gameplay experiences, et cetera.
One of the problems I noticed is that everything from 1.6.2 and beyond seems to be geared toward those more privileged people. In layman's terms, the game is getting more resource intensive. Those with poor computers (Sheep, sts [I believe], me, and a plethora of others) may not be able to keep up.
I am ready for the string of replies stating, "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it," and ,"Dude get a better computer!" (I'm sure you've all had enough of my bad computer sob stories. Believe me, I have too.) and "Well, if it is in a separate world, it won't cause lag, right?" As far as my understanding goes, wrong. The more resource-intensive biomes (sky islands, amplified biomes) will hamper the server's capabilities, and thus impart some (potentially insignificant, for those with better computers) clientside lag.
Anyway, regardless of what happens to the server regarding these next few updates, I want to know what the Minecraft community (a.k.a. you people) think about all of this. Personally, I think it is all wonderful stuff, except for the fact that the Lagmonster threatens to swallow some people's capabilities to enjoy one of their favorite games. The sky islands look beautiful, the new flowers make everything more vibrant, and the game just looks better overall.
That'll be it! Thank you for putting up with me and my little outpouring of typographical characters here

Me again!
This time, I was curious as to how we will be transferring into 1.7. Will we update straight to it from 1.6.2 or will we go through the process of updating through 1.6.3, 1.6.4, and any more versions specifically built to ease the transfer into 1.7?
The reason for my concern is that, as I am sure most people know by now, updating from 1.6.2 straight into 1.7 screws up some world data. Nether fortresses, witch huts, and strongholds will no longer be registered as such within the game and will just appear (to the game) to be a regular part of the terrain instead of a specifically generated structure.
I don't expect this to be too much of a problem, because the main reason for wanting to save fortresses and witch huts is for farms, and not many people (that I know of) have created a witch farm or a wither skeleton farm. However, if we just update straight into 1.7, finding wither skeletons will be impossible.
Anyway, just curious about that. If anyone can give me any information about what will happen, that would be great! If not, I understand. Thanks for listening!
Or reading.... Whatever.
