The official Minecraft Forums has recently created a Server Listing Service: http://servers.minecraftforum......et/servers

We are not on it yet (at least, nothing comes up when I search for VeteranCraft or play.veterancraft.net), so it would help us to make an entry.

A Curse Account is required, which I already have from my Admining days, so I can make the entry if staff would like, or someone can do it.  So long as it's done, I thought everyone should know.Laugh

EDIT: It seems that we can list the pluggins, but we'll need the exact version number that is being run.  Just putting "Residence" isn't enough, we'd have to list "Residence 2.6.5.2," for example.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Ryanpitts would be the one to decide on how this is managed, unless it's something he's already in the process of dealing with, so I'll leave it at that until he has time for input.

I've moved forward and added VC to the list, hence the long hash code in the MOTD, which will be removed once the server is verified.

Very cool Light. Frelling, it still doesn't show up in the search, do you have a link to the listing?

I followed their instruction and added the verification key to our MOTD, but for some reason it hasn't validated. There are very limited directions as what needs to be done and frankly with the updates, haven't had much time to pursue it.

EDIT: I threw out a "Heeelllllllp meeeeeee!" in MCF, let's see what comes of it.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's backlog.  That's always been a problem with the MCF.

VeteranCraft does have two inroads, both myself being a former Admin, and now Megaloneus being an active Moderator, but I'm not sure if either of us could help.  I think this server service is actually run by Curse, and not the MCF volunteers.

Mega, do you happen to know who is responsible for the Server List?

EDIT: I saw your post on it, frelling.  That forum should get some attention, it always has.  From another thread a bit further down, it looks like this is not an uncommon problem, and that citricsquid (the head admin) is pretty good about getting it fixed. I would guess that someone at Curse is slacking on the job, and citric is cleaning up the mess.  If you don't get a response today, try posting in that other thread, which he has replied to before.

This is too funny. I just went back to search for the same keywords given that you pointed out similar forum topic, fully ready to flame Curse for having a crappy search engine and now both topics come up. The magical mystical elves must have been working in the background Laugh

One possibility that I considered is that even though the instructions say put this tag "somewhere" in the MoTD, it might not be that general. I will change the MoTD to only contain the tag when we upgrade later tonight and see if that helps. Then again, it could still be backlog if they indeed require manual checks for each claim.

I talked to Ralex, and he has confirmed that it is Curse.

The second thread I had posted seems to be up to three pages now of people not getting verified.  And nothing seems to be getting done about it.

I would recommend that frelling contact the Forum Admins directly, here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/.....istration/

Yep, nothing has changed. Thank you for the link. I have submit a direct request to have this looked at. Just another example of people getting all excited about a feature only to whip something up without thoroughly reviewing the process and identifying risks.Kiss

Interesting that I completely didn't see this topic even though it has a bunch of posts. Either way, thanks for bringing this to our attention light and sorry I didn't see this sooner.

So far no reply from the Forum Admins. Four views; that's all.

Well, it's been seen.  Megaloneous should be able to ask directly, but if I had to guess, I would guess that this is currently a pet peeve of citric's.  He's probably privately fuming at Curse, although he wouldn't do it publicly unless he was royally pissed off.

I'm guessing that the server feature is considered "busted," and they're not going to worry about it until Curse decides to fix it.

I'll keep my eye on the forums to see if anyone gets their server fixed, but those who have complained haven't been handled since mid-November, so far.

I got an email today, touting a bunch of new features for the curse client pertaining to minecraft.  So I would guess that maybe they are focused on rolling that out and maybe this server feature has been pushed to the wayside until they get the curse client stuff all solidified?

Thanks for the info. We'll put it on the back burner for now.

Ok, so apparently there was a bug with the system that Curse has been working on fixing.  I don't know if it's fixed yet, but as of December there is now a process if we still can't get listed.  Once everything is done, including the MoTD change, and it still won't get listed, frelling, you'll have to submit a ticket to Curse itself to get help.  A ticket to the MCF staff will no longer work.  Here's the link with the info:

http://www.minecraftforum.net/.....t-support/

I don't know if this is something we still want to do, just putting it out there.Smile

Frankly, for the time I wasted suffering as a guinea pig for their "registration" process, I have no real desire to follow up at this time. Yes, a listing would be nice, but lack of it won't end the world either. I also have a concern that with too many listings in too many places, that it will be harder or almost impossible to keep them all current and effective. When there is more time, we'll have to weigh the pros and cons.

Yeah, I can't blame you on that point.  The benefit is that it's on such a popular site, but it's such a poorly implemented system that it's so very not worth the trouble unless it the need is there.
