One problem I have noticed is that, even with the world enlargement, everyone is mining a lot in Vetronia. Plus it's not just the good players, but also X-eaters, taking large amounts of diamonds and other rarities. I would like to propose a (Stop Mining In Vetronia) movement to save what few materialsa are left for the new players who don't know any better.

PS: maybe this could be a part of the council's job. To run this movement

So you're saying that all players have to start going out of their way to mine in the outer reaches? I doubt Vetronia will run out of resources anytime soon, though. You know how massive the world is? I myself have been doing a large branch mine, close to the edge of Vetronia, being careful not to mess everything up. I know Emulated has already requested that no one mines under Vetra. (I made the mistake accidentally, but filled in what I did.)

I think it's impractical to ask everybody to mine elsewhere. Sound in theory, but I don't think Vetronia's at all hurt by the mining that goes on. I personally feel like I'm doing no wrong with the mining I'm doing myself.

While this statistic is a bit outdated, it should still be fairly relevant. There are approximately 3.097 diamond ore per chunk. This number does not include double/triple drops from McMMO. Let's do the math.

  • A chunk spans an area of 16 x 16 blocks.
  • A 10,000 x 10,000 block world would have (10,000/16)^2 chunks, or 390,625 chunks.
  • The expected value of the number of diamonds to be found is 3.097 x 390,625 = 1,209,765 diamond ores.
  • Assuming a server with 100 members, that would be 12,097 diamond ores per player.
  • On top of that, there would be another 7,742 diamond ores per player in The Outer Reaches.

I don't think we have a diamond crisis on our hands just yet. Laugh

Well once 1.3 comes along everyone will want to mine there for Emeralds so don't worry. :)

Personally I support people mining in the Outer Reaches versus Vetronia, however I understand the sheer travel time makes it rather unlikely that most will be doing it. Personally it's more for preservation of looks rather then resources. I can't stop people from mining under Vetra, however that isn't going to stop me from asking so that the underside of my property doesn't look like swiss cheese.

I agree with Frell and Tony. It's not a big deal, but if you are able to mine in the OR, then you should. However, I do believe that we need to deal with some of the clear cutting of trees and destroying of natural land. Maybe a bunch of other people and I will take a day to just go around the world and clean stuff up a bit.

I have awesome shoulders.

Only 19K+ diamonds per player. I vote for limiting the server to 50 players so that I can have 38K+ diamonds. Obviously, I'm joking. This thread just put a sh*t-eating grin on my face Laugh

Maybe that can be either a full server, Weekend Extravaganza for Earth Day or something big like that and have many people lend their hands for the cleanup

Else maybe this could be another job for the council, since finding things for us do is important.Laugh

Just letting you know, Earth Day was April 22 so that kinda passed lol so we'll have to do it for some other random celebratory day.

Haha, I was going to say the same thing, Dal. I will pick a weekend sometime for that though, guys. Right now I'm a bit backed up in some new work that I have gotten though so it will have to wait for a bit. Kiss
