After a two week hiatus, I finally had an opportunity to catch up on some of the more important forum threads. I want to assure our members that we are still here, but real life has thrown many of us several curve balls over the past few months. Kyle is super-busy with a new job that pretty much has him exhausted at the end of the day. Emulated switched jobs. LightWarriorK has been busy nesting with his fiancé in a new home; and those are only the ones I know about. As far as the rest of us, it’s most likely school, work, family, or a combination thereof.
As some of you may have heard, my mother passed away at the beginning of the month. While it was no surprise and more of a matter of “when” rather than “if”, it was still a very stressing time. I have to praise Hospice for all the great work and support they provided to ensure that my mother’s quality of life was as best as it could be during the last few weeks of her life. Needless to say, coupled with my brother’s passing almost a year ago, it still has hit the family hard. I just hope that I don’t fill in the trifecta next year around the same time
Having been my mother’s primary caregiver for the past two years took its toll on me, my job, and my wife. Fortunately, none of the damage is permanent; but still, there is a lot of work to get back to a normal life, which includes Veterancraft.
That said, we are still in a holding pattern waiting for a viable Craftbukkit replacement solution to appear. Mind you, I have been out of the loop for most of this month, so one of my first goals is to update my understanding and get a better feel as to when we can expect a viable solution. Our two primary contenders are Sponge and Spigot. Last I knew, there were promises that one or both were going to offer a solution sometime this month.
Regardless of which solution we adopt, there will be a ton of work to make it a smooth transition. We have a lot of improvements waiting in the wings, but without a clear direction as to which way the wind will blow, development has stalled and they sit idle for now. Like I said, I won’t know more until I have had a chance to get a better feel for where things are. Hopefully, I will be surprised and see a light at the end of tunnel that it isn’t a train

I know we don't know each other personally, and I hope I am not speaking out of turn, my thoughts are with you, and I 'do' know how it feels.
With dementia, cancer and severe disablement that 3 members of my family have and 2 passing in the last 4 years, I have not got over it, still learning to live with it.
From my own personal perspective, Christmas can be the hardest time to cope without a loved one, enjoy it with the friends and family you still have
I think I can speak for the majority of members on VC, but with what free time you do get, and what you do for Veterancraft, is very much appreciated (i'm not sure exactly what it is you do, but when I get free time I just play MC, I don't create/maintain a server for other people)
As you mention catching up on Spigot, this post was made by md_5 last Friday http://www.spigotmc.org/thread.....1-8.36598/
you probably already read it by now, but thought I would link it anyway

Yes, I was extremely pleased to see the announcement of Spigot's release. I think Mudwog and I will be busy this weekend twiddling with it to get familiar with development environment changes, if any, and how it affects our plugins. Still trying to get more information on Sponge's status. Their forum software and organization is has too much eye candy and gets in the way of reading any meaningful

Thank you for the update, it helps to hear that we all have serious things that interfere with playtime.
I lost my Dad unexpectedly at the beginning of last year, and my Mom was just diagnosed with congestive heart failure, so my sympathies go out to all who are losing family.
Hugs for everyone.

Just a quick update to let everyone know that there is behind-the-scenes activity. While we have been able to a Spigot 1.8 to run, plugins are different story. Needless to say, a lot of hair pulling. We're putting off additional work till next year Everyone have a happy and safe New Year.
Best,
Frelling
