It is hard to figure out where to start after such a long hiatus. If I started at the beginning and explained it all, this would be a very, very long post. Then again, if I started at the end, I’d just sum it up with a very flustered “Greetings” and call it a day. Instead, I’ll try the Reader’s Digest approach.

Let me start by saying Greetings Fellow Vetronians; I’ve missed you all! It has been quite some time since I made a public appearance in the forums or in-game; although, I have been quietly keeping tabs on our servers, applying security patches, and making sure our hosting invoices are paid to keep things running.

As much as I would like to offer details to satiate the curious, I’ll have to defer that to some other time as it is still hard for me to even write this blurb. All I can say now is that family, home, and work events and/or the aftermaths thereof, came together to form a perfect storm around mid-summer affecting me well beyond anything I could have imagined. It broke me. Even now, I’m surprised that it did. I am a seasoned and experienced player in the game of life having endured many curve balls that were far more traumatic, grueling, and problematic. But then again, if you get pummeled, you get your keister handed to you.

I had expected to bounce back from this much sooner. I didn’t realize how much longer and slower the road to recovery was going to be. My dear, wonderful, and best friend – my wife – without whom I’d probably still be a blubbering mess, has been an invaluable help. She is keeping me in line with doctors’ wishes for lifestyle changes and with some better living through chemistry, my life is slowly returning to normalcy.

I want to thank LWK from the bottom of my heart for his stalwart and steadfast oversight of VeteranCraft during my “limited presence”. I’ve always known him to be an asset, but have come to learn just how much of an asset he is to all of us. I’m going to have to do a lot of groveling and worshipping of the chair he sits on (while playing Minecraft) to pay my respects.

I don’t even know where to start thanking Vetronians for their understanding and patience during this trying time. I know many of you are playing on other servers while anxiously waiting for VC to update. Don’t worry, I’m not jealous. Matter of fact, I will be looking forward to hearing about the good, the bad, and ugly in other places upon your return. Most importantly, thank you to all that have continued sponsorship despite no upgrades. We all appreciate the faith and support that shows and I will make sure to show our appreciation over the months to come.

I’m not going to get into too many details about updates right now, except that there is a tentative plan to be updated to 1.11 – which should be released today (11/14) – sometime around Thanksgiving (11/24). More details will follow, once I had an opportunity to digest past forum posts, PMs, and taken an inventory of required changes (over those for 1.9/1.10).

I will leave it at that for now. As I said above, it is still hard for me to write, mostly because of embarrassment – not such much that life got the better of me, but that I let it affect VeteranCraft as much as I did. All I can promise, is that I will try to put measures in place to keep that from happening again.

Best regards,

Frelling
