Upgrade time has finally arrived. All of our 31 plugins are running smoothly, at least as best as we can test with 2-3 people. I'm not saying there won't be any bumps along the way, but they should be small ones, if any at all. The usual culprits - mcMMO, Residence, and Multiverse needed more than a little tweaking. I've been working closely with the ecoCreature author and he has assured me that an update will be out soon to address our particular mob reward needs. For now, we'll live with what we've got.
Functionally, nothing should change. Most of these updates/fixes were for handling new items or API changes made during the 1.4.4/1.4.5 release. This is just a highlight of a few:
- mcMMO now rewards herbalism skills for 1.4.4 veggies - i.e. potatoes, carrots, etc.
- Residence should now protect all 1.4.4+ items.
- Multiverse still has issues with end portals and teleporting players to The End. However, I've patched it to avoid the most common pitfalls.
- Once ecoCreature has been updated, spawned mobs should at least drop items as before, but no additional rewards (i.e. cash, or other items) unless they occur naturally.
- One annoyance that wasn't fixed are the torch flickers. That's a problem with the client and hopefully will be addressed once 1.4.5 is officially released.
- Essential user data needed some serious pruning. With over 3,700 visitors over the past year, the number user files got quite large. Anyone that hasn't logged in the past 30 days (i.e. since 10/19/12) will have to reset their home locations.
- /home bed seems to be giving some players problems. For some its as simple as "sleep" in the bed once, but this doesn't seem to work for all. We're looking into what has changed between Essentials 2.9.4 and 2.9.5. Fixed.
Its now 8:00 PM EST. I still need to update documents and record changes to the system. However, I expect that I will begin the upgrade process some time within the next hour - two at the most. I'll issue broadcast messages as the time approaches.
I expect the upgrade to take no more than 90 minutes. It will probably take less time, but I'm not making any promises. I will be posting updates on Twitter as progress is made and wrap things up in the forum after the fact, if there is a need. Once the upgrade is completed, you will need to update your client to 1.4.4. If you are daring, you can also upgrade to the 1.4.5 pre-release version.
EDIT: This is going to take longer than expected. mcMMO change the manner in which it saves additional block data and the conversion process takes about 25-30 minutes per world. Sadly, my test server didn't have much mcMMO data so the effect wasn't noticeable until now. I expect that we won't be live until about 11:45 PM EST - let's just say midnight.
