I've noticed that a lot of people have been banned for xraying. What is that so I know not to do that?

Fair question. It is possible to install mods and texture packs that allow you to see everything as air except diamond ore, as an example. Lesser players install and use these utilities to obtain large amount of diamond with minimal effort. Thankfully, they are fairly easy to catch using LogBlock.

tl;dr If you install any mods, make sure that they don't have x-ray capability or any other functions that would violate the rules. Here is a thread discussing the topic in greater depth.

Silen7, of course it's not forbidden to use any sort of mods. VeteranCraft just does not allow the use of mods that give an unfair advantage to you over other players, e.g. movement hacks, flying, x-raying.

Mods that generally improve life for you as a minecrafter, however, are fine. Optifine, InvTweaks, and Rei's Minimap are a couple examples of that.

Basically, just ask "does this mod give me an unfair advantage?" Also, feel free to ask any staff member if the mod you are interested in using is okay. Better safe than sorry.
