So I've been having some computer issues the past few months and haven't been on the server much. I made sure to check in when I could every couple weeks or so, so that my stats would be saved, yet I came back about a month ago and my stats and various other things have been wiped. I emailed frelling last month and never got a response, so I was told to post here.

I'm aware player data is automatically purged after three months, but there was no way I was gone that long. All of my stats, money and home points have been removed, yet I still have my complete inventory as when I left, and I was also returned to the location I was at when I last logged off. I haven't changed my name, but I did have my info manually moved over by frelling from a separate account last year. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

I'm wondering if there's anyway to retrieve the data, or if I'm even allowed to be asking for it back. I wasn't gone long enough for it to be erased, I'm sure of it. I've just passed two years since joining VC, so I hope you can understand why I'm a bit distraught over all this being gone. Lots of hours and lots of work. Is there anything that can be done, or do I need to start from scratch?

The 90 day is claim-specific purge, not player data limit. Per our rules, we purge player data after 30 days of inactivity unless they are a sponsor. It actually is a little more than 30 days, but we don't publish that number. 30 is the only number one need be concerned with.

Pandanovi-

Your player inventory (what was on you at the time), the contents of your enderchest, your shilling ballance, claim block balance, McMMO skill levels, and last logged in location are all a part of the "player data."

When a player becomes "inactive," their data is included with purges.  So long as a player logs in once a month, they're safe from this purge.

But yes, all of your above data is gone.

What is safe from the automatic purge?  Two things:  Claims, and Shops.  (for now, see "Caveat" below).

Now, while they're not automatically purged with your player data, after the month is up, other players may request removals of inactive players claims and shops.  I do not recall a request being made for anything of yours, so it's likely they're still there.  Check with staff next time you see one in game.

Cavat: Claims are designed so that they CAN auto-expire if players are inactive for too long.  That's not a feature currently in use, but it may be in the future.  So stay active!

I'm sorry this had to happen, but it's always been like this on VC.  We have to keep our databases clean so the server can run smoothly for active players, and that means purging old data of inactive players.

And welcome back. :)

Claims and shops will soon follow that path of the dodo bird for expired players too.
