[Image Can Not Be Found][Image Can Not Be Found]This post was formed in light of recent events taking place as of 5:00 pacific time on 7/15/14. I am a new player on VeteranCraft and I started on the same day, at an earlier time, as the events that took place. I am fully aware of the rules applying to realistic building, but I was NOT aware of any rules stating there was immediate action taken mid-build if this was not instantly taken care of. I was busy building my house when suddenly theMackFather had somehow appeared there behind me, I assume this was some sort of teleportation plugin allowed for use by staff. Again, I was fully aware I needed to build supports, but I had not done so yet, due to lack of resources. The first thing he did was head over to my bridge connecting two sides of the small canyon, and began criticizing my lack of support, calling it "unacceptable". Keep in mind I had only been building for a short amount of time. I will admit, I had built over the edge of the canyon quite a bit, but that does not excuse the abrupt and rude response from theMackFather. I have included some snapshots of how he responded to it, I had not said anything rude or instigating, yet I got a rude correction from him. I was hoping for somewhat of a friendly correction, something like "Hey man, when you get around to it you should build some supports here.". This is in stark contrast of what happened, it went more like "Fix this immediately or face punishment, this is against the rules." Not exactly a kind and friendly way to correct the situation. And, yet, it got worse from there... My mother, web1234567890, tried sticking up for me, explaining that I had only recently joined the server, and to stop harassing me about the supports. This provoked an EXTREMELY disappointing response from LightWarriorK, who simply told her to "Mind her own business" and to "Let us handle it". I think when it comes to her son, this is entirely her business. There were a series of private messages sent to her as well, which I did not get to look at yet, but to top it off was the fairly shocking response from tootaboo, who should have been the responsible and mature figure. His words were, and I quote, "Okay, okay, that's enough. Happy mining everyone, back to work." It was the most dumbfounding thing I had seen for a while. Instead of trying to resolve the situation and figure things out, he covered it over and just passed it by. Respectfully, I haven't seen much of a difference between how I have been treated here with how I have been treated on openly public servers with loose rules and regulations. I was in high expectation of very mature and friendly staff, some of which are mature and friendly, but from what I have seen a portion of them are strict and rule-lording. I believe one of the rules does clearly state that Staff are supposed to be kind and considerate. In the end my mother was put under a one-day ban. Whatever reasoning they have for doing this probably has some poorly-planned excuse behind it.

In the end I am trying not to be disrespectful, this is a formal complaint. I will admit that, yes I did not have supports built YET, but that gives no excuse for the rude and abrupt response I got from the staff handling the "situation". I hope this situation can be resolved as soon as possible. I would like a formal apology for the way me and my family have been treated, and for my mother to be un-banned, this is all I ask. Have any questions about the incident? I would be happy to answer them. If the snapshots did not insert properly I can also send them via E-Mail. Thank you for your time.Surprised

Hello Kurtis. I'm going to do my best to address this post in it's entirety.

Build rules are an unfortunate reality of a non white listed server. We too are builders, and we understand that a build cannot always be under construction and follow all of the build rules. That is why theMackFather teleported to you to investigate the situation and make himself more informed. I understand there was a lot going on at the time and it may have been missed, however you implied he said something along the lines of "Fix this immediately or face punishment, this is against the rules." when in reality he took the time to tell you that you have a period to correct the build violation and he would be peeking in on the location again late tomorrow.

Concerning the reprimand for your attitude, replying "I was going to get to it jeez" generally isn't a civil way of replying to a situation.

I won't go too far into discussing what transpired with your mother, web1234567890. Incidents on VeteranCraft are between the attending staff member and the player(s) directly involved. If your mother would like to become involved in your affairs on VeteranCraft it can only be at your behest. Telling staff how to go about their duties (with or without any indication of her relationship to you) is offensive. If she felt the situation was handled incorrectly, it would have been prudent for her to speak with a non involved member of staff or perhaps the server owner(s) at a later date.

Lastly we touch on tootaboo telling the chat "Okay, okay, that's enough. Happy mining everyone, back to work.". I know you aren't familiar with staff policy and procedure, however tootaboo was attempting to push the topic out of the main chat. While it was not the case here, staff are strongly encouraged to take discussions into a party chat channel so that other folks on line don't feel compelled to offer up their two cents on the situation. Looking back I'm sure you can understand how much smoother this whole incident would have moved along without input from everyone else present, and tootaboo was simply following his staff training in an attempt to return the chat to it's regular state.

I understand your frustrations in how things were handled and I hope the above has helped clarify some of that for you. Thank you for explaining web1234567890's relationship to you, however as I said it does not give her claim to interject and/or override a player vs. staff discussion. Due to this I've decided not to overturn her twenty-four hour temporary ban. Moving forward I'm certain both staff and player alike can learn something from tonight, and I hope now that cooler heads prevailed we can expect to see both your mother and yourself often!
