Hello staff of VC!

I came back to a gate I have not used in a while, and I noticed it was in a weird position and the button was gone.

I ventured into the hole where the button should be and then I walked in on a room without alot of the redstone that should have been there!

This used to be the redstone room for the gate, but this does not look like something that is going to operate any gate anymore!

I hope staff can look into this!

Thanks in advance!

As we discussed in game, the culprit has been found and a ban issued for intentional griefing.

Hey braleth, thanks for taking care of that, I have used /trustlist to check who had acces in my claim.

As seen on the screenshot below, only TheFinalSnow has build acces to my claim. This claim has been there atleast 2 weeks before the merge (I think it was even older).

So as you said we have to ask Frelling to look into this issue, since it could affect more players, and maybe next time it wont be just a few pistons & repeaters.

If I see him online I'll show him this forum post!(I hope you can do so aswell :) )

Was the structure built before the claim was created? At what elevation did you make the claim?

It could have been that the claim does not extend all the way down, I did not check, but I did check in on the level of where I was standing, near the button, and the lapis that was broken was on that level. The build was there before the claim was made. I will be able to check about how deep the claim extends tomorrow!

Hey frelling, I was able to check today, and the claim extends deep enough to protect the stuff that is down there. I am not sure how it could have happened. Maybe some program to bypass GP?

I asked AdmlAdama to try and break some blocks, he could not. So the claim is working in some way.

ted-  It also could be the timing of when things happened:

When you make a claim, it only initially claims to sea level.  This allows for mining (and yes, griefing) to be done under a claim. The first change that the owner makes (digging or placing) is supposed to instantly expand the claim down to that point.

So, in theory, if you did not build or dig under your claim before the griefing occurred, but did afterwards, it would be claimed now, but it wouldn't have been when the griefing was done.

Do you happen to remember the order of events?

Perhaps Frelling can answer this, but I'm curious if this is the reason:

Tedisvet didn't build the initial gate, Rangasp did. Ted confirmed Rangasp did the digging and redstone placement. So, perhaps, GP didn't extend the claim downwards as it wasn't the claim owner making the block changes, even though Rangasp had GP build permissions?

Correct, anyone digging/building "under" a claim that isn't the owner or has build permissions would not cause the claim to extend itself.
