I was wondering what the limit is on how many residences we may rent out. I can't find it listed anywhere.

I was looking to set up a system where players may rent apartments in Vetra to gain access to our farms and resources, but the game is only allowing me to place two rooms up for rent. Kind of throws a wrench in the plans. 😛

Thank you,

Anthony Hughes

I think that is the default limit in the plugin. On the sever I was on before I came to VC, I built a 150x150x50 apartment complex. It took forever to build it, and almost as long to subzone each of the rooms (100s of rooms of various sizes). I could just envision the rent money pouring in. Then I went to setup my 3rd unit for rent and saw that I reached the limit :(

I looked at the code and configs for the plugin, and sure enough, it is defaulted to 2 (it can be changed in the configs). I believe it is set that way because the more units rented out, the more timers/events need to happen on the sever, and the more laggy it gets. On that other server I then decided to just sell each apartment instead of renting, so I'm not sure if you have that option. The drawback there is the property will be out of your control once you sell it.

I just want to add this on to what hannahbrian said. Another route you could go for is just to subzone and give building, etc. perms to the person. Then whenever you want to collect rent, you basically hunt them down like a naggy landlord always asking for rent. If they don't pay, you take away their building, container, etc. perms until they pay you.

If the rent is defaulted at 2, we can simply increase it. Until now there hasn't been much interest in the rental system, so as soon as the 1.2.4 update issues are done we can just adjust the config. As for how many rental units per residence we should allow, I don't know about hundreds, but how about like 50?

Fifty would be phenomenal. I don't think anyone would need any more then that, and it would really open up some opportunity for people to become a little more invested in other's towns.

I can't do anything about this right now. But someone remind me in a week to look at this.
