I don't know if you had any conversations in private with him after that, but as he said in the final post:

Concerning being gray in-game; keep in mind that would also remove your perks. We are unable to have you as both a sponsor in-game, and gray. Which would you prefer?

You can't be a Grayling with perks.  If you want XPvault, you need to be your sponsor level.  It's as simple as that; the system isn't coded to allow it otherwise, and we don't want it otherwise.  We can't have folks running around with perks looking like they're Graylings, it's confusing and will cause problems.

But if you should be Bishop and are not, Emulated should be able to fix it.
