So... it has come to my attention that Minecraft's EULA may become a large PITA.

This is just a little post wondering about the ways in which VC was planning on adapting to the "new" EULA rules that were brought up by Mojang a few weeks ago, or even if VC has to adapt (Maybe through some unknown loophole, you are actually not violating this rule).

So apparently, despite almost ever server on the face of the planet for the past 3 years (since Minecraft was invented), servers are no longer allowed to have a donations system that results in parks that are "non-cosmetic." This basically changes the ways that 90%+ of servers out there pay their bills, and how it appears VC pays for the server costs. It is true that the rule has existed in some form since the beginning or Minecraft, but it has never been given a second though or even looked over until now.

Details stated by Mojang can be found here:

https://mojang.com/2014/06/lets-talk-server-monetisation/

and the Q&A on those details here:

https://mojang.com/2014/06/lets-talk-server-monetisation-the-follow-up-qa/

Now, I am sure that a mod or tech has probably seen information on this, and you are maybe working on something to resolve conflicts if they even exist. I was just posting this to see if you were going to release any plan regarding the EULA and the monthly donation system here. "As of August 1st, they say they are going to start cracking down." I know a lot of players donate to VC to help it pay operating costs and continue to run, including me, so this is an issue that could affect a lot, if not all of us.

Thanks,

We are monitoring the situation closely waiting for the dust to settle after 8/1. As a whole, we support the intent of the EULA changes to combat certain "abusive" servers that prey on the young and impatient, giving Mojang and the Minecraft server community a bad name. However, as this is a legal matter, we will not discuss further opinions or plans in public or in-game, until such time it becomes necessary.
