Love the idea mack! As a relative new Minecrafter (about 6 months or so), I have never seen this done before.

Have you researched how you would specifically do this? 

What about the lag it may cause? (pretty big issue)

If I were an Admin, my initial concerns would be that it may conflict with the "minimalist" approach at the servers core regarding plugins. Specifically, I'm referring to this bullet under "The Difference" page:

"We don’t overload the server with tons needless plugins. They waste ram and cause lag"

Also, read Frelling's pinned post in the Suggestion Box. It would have to fit the established specifications laid out there and fit the original intent of MC; so be mindful of this.

Just my initial thoughts... I play Pandora in the background usually, so it would be an interesting addition in my opinion.

If I understand it correctly, he is referring to something like SoundCenter/CustomMusic. Stream music/radio directly into the server. Possibly tailor some of its content to VC. Has potential to work well with community events and creating a more engaging environment with longtime VC members.

Obviously, it has to have limited range and other features to limit lag, but I like the idea. I'm just not sure it fits the "Notch test" (as I call it; see frelling's post). Not to mention it would have to be run by someone dedicated to maintain it, as it could muddle the server if left unattended too long.
