Considering the existence of underwater monuments in 1.8, will the rules about building under water change at all? Will those rules apply in OR as they do in Arda?
I can see myself striding boldly into such a structure, triumphing over the Elder Guardians, claiming their palace, and extending it to suit my purposes. (Bwa ha ha.)

We had an underwater buildoff at one point, it was a lot of fun.
I may try to do an underwater buildoff arena at some point....I have enough ocean claimed for it....hmmm. *Adds to list*
But remember, anyone is welcome to build places for events, and staff will help. The lack of events has been due to Arda being new. Everyone is building, and arenas take time to build.
The rules regarding underwater building will remain the same, and yes, applied to the OR as well. Hopefully Mojang has worked through their biome issues and the underwater monuments will only occur in the ocean depths.
I do not know if they'll be allowed to be claimed, as like with villagers before zombie villagers were added, they're a very limited resource. If the monuments are removed or altered, do the Guardians stop spawning? That would be...undesirable.

Ah, I hadn't thought of that, good point. I guess we'll have to do some infogathering and see if they're more like villages and temples, or like strongholds.
And in our case, how many monuments we'll even get depends on how many areas in OR are deep ocean biomes with aquatic ones all around.
TY, LWK.

The Guardians spawn even if the structure is destroyed. They work the exact same way as Wither Skeletons. I was planning on building a community Guardian farm, so the new blocks would be available to all. If anyone is interested in helping, I'm going to make a forum post soon about it.

Yep, but that's all normal. I kinda was talking about the other stuff that might delay it.
Like, EvilSeph leaving Bukkit and Mojang having to take over development.

I'm confident that things will be alright, but I also foresee it taking a bit longer.
