This sort of hit me all at once. I had just posted in Tony's thread about Command Shops (which is awesome, btw), and then I was looking at how I could change my red "No" under Embassies on the Lore Wiki to the nice green "Yes."
As I thought about it, I asked myself...."Why?"
And it's true, Embassies aren't worth a whole lot. I would love to make one, but they're expensive and they don't really serve a function.
And in fact, I already have an Embassy. It's called Highmoor Exports, my standalone shop. Of course the Embassies are in better positions, and are larger, but really I don't need two of them.
So I asked myself, what if an Embassy could have a shop in it?
- It frees up a slot for someone else to have one of the limited standalone shops
- It gives an actual purpose and use to the Embassies
- It provides a draw to the Embassies, so that while people shop they might see more information about the city.
- It draws people into Embassy Row.
So my suggestion is to allow those with Embassies to place a shop inside it. If this would increase the cost of the embassy, then so be it, I guess. But to free up that slot for other players, this would serve as the standalone shop for that player (so no standalone shop and Embassy).

I like this idea a lot. Almost like hitting two birds with one stone kind of deal. Gave me the idea for selling fishing rods and fish for Freya's future embassy. Although it may not sell well, imo it gives the player a feel of what Freya is.

Seems like a great idea here. Embassies have been kind of meh. Also what Dalferes noted about one more way to show visitors the culture. Residents of the towns/regions could also donate goods to the shop, which the sale or the items themselves could go towards projects in that town.

That is a great idea. If we did that we could have at least 10 free shop plots, it could stop inflation because people with more money would spend 5k with a better reason than before, and it draws attention to the hard earned expensive emabsseies.
I would be fine with this. The purpose of the Embassies was supposed to be for people to shop around for a new town to live in, but the way newbies are currently spawned in, they rarely make it past them. That might change down the road, but I don't see the harm in allowing placement of a shop in your Embassy plot nonetheless.
