Looking through the Wikis, I see no evidence of this command, so I thought I'd mention it here.  If this does exist somewhere in the bowels of Residence, then I apologize.

Right now, there is seemingly no way select specific coordinates.  My need for this is that when expanding a Res, I typically select the existing Res, use /res select expand [x], and then /res area replace [x] and so long as I'm under the 200x200 limit, I wouldn't need to add an additional area, and it keeps the Res nice and neat.

The problem is when I'm dealing with a large Res, with the corners well underground or up in the sky, selecting that Res means using the Expand command multiple times, with /res select coords after each time to make sure it's right.  It's tedious, and prone to errors.

So, I was wondering if it would be possible to add a command to the selection menu that could allow for an immediate selection of a very specific area.

Such as /res select bottom [x][y][z] and then /res select top [x][y][z].

Alternatively, since my need for this is to expand/replace existing Residences, maybe just /res select [Res] [Area]?

Either (or both) ways would be a great help and a wonderful option.  Thanks!

I agree with LWK that this would be a very useful residence add. I wanted to do something similar recently and had to resort to nearly barbaric measures! (building a stone column for height :) )

I told the doctor I broke my leg in two places. He told me to stop going to those places.

Hey LWK,

This is not exactly what you are looking for, but have you seen this command?

/res select [x y z] - select a cuboid area to protect, using either the selection tool (wooden axe by default) or specifying X, Y, and Z as a distance on those axes from the center point where you are standing ("10 5 10" would select an area 21 wide x 11 high x 21 long.

If you could get to the center of the area you want to protect, I think you could /res select 100 100 100 (or 99 100 99 since it seems to include the block you are standing on).  It might be tricky finding the center, but if you know the corners you should be able to calculate it.

It's not exactly what you were asking, but I think it still accomplishes what you were hoping.  You could even do a /res select 99 1 99 and then expand it vertically so you wouldn't have to find the center point underground.

Or maybe I'm way off base...

Hehe, that's one way to do it, Pher.  I usually just do an upwards expansion.

Thanks, HB, I did see that, and it's close, but not quite what I was looking for.  I feel that command is more useful for creating a Res of XYZ size from scratch, and you don't really care what the coordinates are.  Getting to the exact center of a Res can sometimes be a pain, and I think it would actually be faster to just use the method I use now, which is get to a corner or edge and expand the selection out 3-4 times.

If a command for a specific selection can't be added, that's alright, I'll just chalk it up to curiosity. :)

Another addition I would request for Residence is a flag that makes it so other players cant pick up items when they are floating on the ground, like if you Q'd them.

That's actually a good one.Smile

I've mentioned before that there are a number of flags needed, especially for areas intending to be Adventure areas.  In particular, God, Heal, Jumpto, Thru, and Desc.....basically allowing a Res to negate donor perks, so that the area can be experienced as intended by the creator.  In addition, it would be good to have a Home flag, so that users couldn't set homes in other peoples' Res'es, when false.
