I, and many others, have recently experienced dramatic FPS drops at spawn. I believe it is coming from the huge amount of entities in the Merchant Hall. It started OK, but as more people are purchasing shops, it is getting worse. It is becoming far too bad. I believe by looking at the sky, your FPS goes up, it happens to me, at least. So, I done a test.
- On top of the spawn tower, looking straight = Around 90 FPS (My usual)
- On the ground in the spawn plaza, looking straight = around 20 FPS.
- Looking at the merchant hall, ground = About 11 FPS
As you can see, it gets worse as we look more towards to Merchant Hall.
This lag at spawn is the ONE reason I hardly go there anymore. .
This is also not good for new players, they might think "This server is really laggy...." or "This server is so bad because I get bad FPS!" or something along the lines. I am NOT saying that. There are several ways to solve this problem, here are some I thought of, and maybe others have too.
- Not have item frames in the Merchant Hall. Myself and many others believe this is a good idea as it is the item frames which are causing alot of lag at spawn.
- Limit the amount of frames per shop.
What FPS do you guys get at spawn? As you can see, I get bad fps. Otherwise, I generally get about 80-110 (around 200 on Superflat worlds)
What do you guys think could be done about this situation? It is getting worse as more shops are being purchased!
Thanks for reading!

I've moved this thread to the suggestion box as it is a more appropriate place for it. I will be honest, I don't notice any extra lag at the merchant hall. I drop from 60 (I use VSync) to 40 FPS - not a visually noticable difference. Please refrain from posting your FPS counts here... staff will look into the issue and hopefully a resolution may be reached.

The lag caused by item frames is client side, not server side. While this may affect a player's FPS, a player's CPU resource management and internet service are outside of our control. If you're looking for a quick and easy fix for this issue, I suggest Kabo's item frame fix here.
