I was thinking, if you had enough money in your budget, you could host another server for legit Tekkit players. I myself am a big Tekkit fan as well as the normal Minecraft and lots of Minecraft are into Tekkit because of all the famous you tubers playing it. Its a rare occasion where i find a great server like Veterancraft in Tekkit. hopefully you may consider this in the future if your budget cant afford another server.

I would not approve of this idea.

Personally, I think a separate Tekkit server would severely split our userbase. I love VeteranCraft mainly BECAUSE we have a close, mature community, and, because one cannot be logged into more than one server at a time without separate accounts, the community would become split. I do not like the complications of Tekkit in my minecraft, so I would not be playing it.

The inability to be logged into more than one server would also split the staff base greatly. How do we decide which staff must moderate the Tekkit server, and which would moderate the regular server? Would staff have to find a way to log into both servers? If so, how on earth if, say, only one staff member was online at the time, would they be able to handle both servers? Talk about taxing the precious time staff take to work on their own projects when they aren't busy moderating.

Third, Tekkit is pretty technology intensive, as far as I've heard. Why pay more money for another server that splits the userbase when we already have our main server? Wouldn't it be a little impractical?

These are only a few of the problems I see coming out of this. Again, I would not approve of an idea like this.

As Angie said, it wouldn't be the best thing to do. Even though I would play on it if we were to do something like this myself, it still would cause more problems than help out.

I have awesome shoulders.

Thanks for the suggestion edr, it's not practical at this current time, but we'll consider it for a future possibility when the current server begins being maxed out in capacity.

I know that Spike has been interested in playing Tekkit of late and has had trouble finding a server worth playing on.  I think that it could be interesting to have a Tekkit server running under the Veterancraft name and backed by the VC reputation.  Once the main server is settled and updated after the move to the new hardware, I think it would be cool to see this idea explored, and it is one I had considered bringing up myself once the move was finalized.

I think the matters of staffing would be figured out over time just as they have been for the main server.  As for splitting the user base, I don't feel that it would do so.  In fact, having the Tekkit server would possibly bring people to the main server if they like how the Tekkit server is run and want to find a place to play more vanilla minecraft as well.

My own preference is that this would be a good idea IF it could be worked into Vetrancraft as a Multiverse world.  At the very least, the servers should be linked so that we could chat with each other.

Personally, though, I probably wouldn't play on it.  Tekkit is much more "toybox" than Minecraft's "sandbox."  Still, if it works, then it works, and more power to those who want to play with it.

if we could do a tekkit multiverse world, you would need a new ip address so tekkit players would enter the server from the tekkit multiverse so its the first thing a new player sees due to the fact that tekkit wont log onto vanilla servers. and to note, this still might fail. ive never attemted to do somthing like this.

I like this idea, as I feel that tell it is becoming the DayZ of arms 2.if people are skipping the vannela gameplay and just playing tekkit, it would be cool if we had a mature, grief-less tekkit server. Mack and I have gone to a few, and all of them seem to only have part of what VC offers.

However, Angie is right, to an extent. If we have a Veterancraft Tekkit server, people will probably be split into five groups: those who play tekkit exclusively, those who mostly play tekkit but play a bit of vannella, those who play both equally, those who mostly play vannella, and those who exclusively play vannella. So she is right about there being a split, but I think that these players would still be Veterancrafters that would make a respectful community. I feelVC gave one of these to the regular mine craft community, why not join the tekkit train too?

As I've addressed in my previous post, if we considered adding servers to our brand, it would only be once the current one is more full. In other words, we won't branch out and spread ourselves thin, but we won't rule out expanding things down the road. I won't put the server in the position Angie mentioned where everyone would leave main VC for an alternative version of VC. Now that our hardware capacity is greatly increased, we are going to start ramping up promoting the server... well, as soon as Dynmap is fixed.. If thigns grow at the same pace as when we last promoted, I suspect capacity will be reached and we can consider the next step.

Sounds good Meat.  Sorry for posting somewhat contradictory to yours, I was typing mine up as you posted it appears.  I am excited to see where VC heads and what we can really do with our increased hosting power.

Oh I didn't see it as contradictory at all. I just wanted to ease fears of splitting the base, at the same time not rule it out for the future :)
