Since the residence layer on the live map has been disabled (at least for the time being) it would be helpful to have a list of current residences (Vet, SR, Nether) somewhere on the forum, or on the wiki.

There's already a list of cities on the wiki (though I'm not sure it's up to date,) and maybe the same format could be used to list residences.  Perhaps only the .main area should be referenced, and not all the bits and pieces that may be scattered across the maps.

Having this would be very helpful for those of us with tp to residences, especially when we're traveling long distances, or are just being tourists and seeing the wonderful stuff other Veterans have built.

I know it will take a lot of work, unless the data could be pulled dynamically from a database somewhere, so if it has to be manually done, maybe it only gets updated monthly (and the page would display the 'last updated' date.)

Thanks for reading.

It's not a bad idea, but the residences on the wiki are managed by the people who own them.  It's not a server effort, as that would be a heap of work.

By registering for the wiki, meat will be able to allow anyone to edit it and keep their areas up to date.  Those who don't wish to  put in the effort to maintain their area, well, they probably don't care about anyone visiting their area :)

That said, there are some talks about keeping the lore wiki more up to date and how that can be done.  It's still early in talks, though, but there should be more options in the future for keeping up to date with the Residences.

This is a very good idea and LWK's point is well taken. I have a few residences at the moment but only one of them is a destination (the rest are storage protection). I would cheerfully add my destination residence and its tp coords (as well as the [unnamed coalpunk project]) to a wiki list, as I would expect others would.

Conceptually, it is an interesting idea. However, the primary intent of Residence is to serve as a protection mechanism, not a travel agent Laugh. I strongly recommend that any further discussions of alternative solutions be curtailed at this time until we have resolved the immediate issue.

Let me just say, summer and rob, everyone, and that includes you :) , is permitted and encouraged to contribute to the lore wiki in true wiki fashion. So in essence, if someone wanted content created, they're totally free and permitted to contribute such content, and also updating existing content. We have rollback abilities to keep wiki grief from occurring but other than that it's pretty wide open. Anytime someone adds to the lore wiki an ocelot gets its spots.

As far as residences specifically, and it being a server effort, there'd be no way to do them all (and no need to go down that road quite yet as frelling said) but perhaps a list of publicly notable residences linking to wiki pages of each creation would be just what's in store. It could be as in depth as people want it to be. The cities page probably also needs updated.

But yeah, feel free (and encouraged) to sign up on the lore wiki and start writing away!

Once I get Westveld into a more publicly-presentable state, I'd love to contribute a page for it. At the moment, though, I think it's far too roughshod to warrant a page. I'm sure 5 more double chests of stone will do the trick :)
