i chatted with someone spicy today about jcshops and ideas for the future, here are some of the thoughts:
- it would be awesome to have more accessible statistics i.e. similar to what you already get when logging in "sold item x and y, gained $$, bought item z, lost $$" but as a command. e.g. /shop statistics 24h (shows what has been sold/bought in the last 24 hours)
- a possibility to sell enchantments (i understand that it would be hard to implement this for ALL enchanted items, because of multiple enchantments, and multiple items that they could be on, but how about books with 1 enchantment on them? Would that be hard? It would be super useful)
Some things that i would like to see fixed (even if it means hurting my own business, as i have found my way around the quirks):
- the /shop find command does not list buy prices when there is no max amount set for the item. On the other hand, it continues showing buy prices, even if the shop owner is broke or the min balance has been reached.
- in the list of /shop find, shops with items that are "listed" (in /shop browse) but can currently neither be sold nor bought, are still shown, with --/-- (which is even more annoying when these "results" are shown, and the list is cut off after 10 lines, and as a result, real offers are not visible because of the many shops with --/--)
Also, jcshops signs are a wonderful thing. But, the item names are abbreviated in a weird way, that introduces a 3rd way to spell items, which adds a lot of unnecessary confusion. I understand why jcshops uses different names than the ones displayed in the inventory (it allows for the 3-letter abbreviations) but i hate that these item names are not shown on the signs. I'd gladly volunteer to edit the list of item names as displayed on the shop signs, to be compatible with what you enter in your /shop buy command.

since my post 2 weeks ago was obviously tldr - i would just like to highlight this one thing - the /shop find is working less and less because of the number of shops near spawn. when the --/-- results could be filtered out, that would make the /shop find much more useful again.

Many --/-- shops are indeed dealing in that item, however prices are only shown when a shop owner sets a max amount.Anthony Hughes
Occasionally that is true. The majority though only had the item for sale or were purchasing at one time and no longer are, so its still registering in the search but its just clogging the list. For example to show that point I went to spawn and did /search find gunpowder and was given a list of shop's like f's and others that I have not seen selling or buying in a long time but they show up on the list. Also to prove it wasn't just a case of no max value set, which only applies to buying anyway, I went into the nearest shop, echo's and did a search for buying and selling, and nothing is listed. Now if you don't set a max, it will still show on the list inside the shop when someone does a browse, it only doesn't show a price when you do a /shop find, here are the screenshots of what I mean
