I have a suggestion regarding a world separate from arda similar to OR/SR where administrator approved mini games could be built using command blocks.

These could be original Games or popular ones whose creators allow them to be built/used

I would love to see something like this. Will probably need some extra attention from the staff though. I think once players have acces to command blocks some funky stuff can happen to the whole map. Not sure what the true power is of a command line in one of those blocks.

using command blocks.

To quote frelling, command blocks will never be used on VeteranCraft. It is known that the server prides itself on it's legitimacy, but the main problem, is that command blocks can be very, very damaging on the server and its infrastructure. Although the idea is a nice one, as far as I know, there is absolutely no way that command block powered games will be permitted on the server. I do think this gives a nice challenge as you can set a goal of making a minigame using survival tools, like redstone and all that.

I was thinking of it being another world so that it can't be abused for resources, map manipulation, etc.

In my mind the way it would work is that some concepts would be tested in world downloads and the "installed" by admins, mods or other approved staff. E.g. Not just anybody would be able to do something with it.

Command blocks can indeed be resource intensive but in some ways the command blocks are less intensive than large redstone components to accomplish the same thing such as chained components for memory cells vs built in team commands.

The reality is that it would have to be greatly controlled and may not be worth the effort at this time but then again perhaps it could be something beneficial or a draw for new players as well as fun for the community.

Thanks for the comments which allowed me to clarify what I was thinking.

Yes, we will have an event server. Matter of fact we may have several. The logistics of such is still unknown as many other things need to be in place before we can consider moving forward. However, the goal is to provide a means for keeping some of our regular events accessible at different times, to write support plugins (e.g. kill counter for chicken shooting gallery), and actually deploy worlds that may run custom plugins and *cough* *ugh* maybe even command blocks. Needless to say, such servers will need to integrate into our backend network/systems.

However, before everyone starts running around bellowing shouts of glee, this is still just a twinkle in our eyes and will be rolled out in increments. Not sure when, how, or where. Don't bother asking. When we know, you will know Laugh
