I may just not have been around long enough to find out, but I can't seem to find a method in game of the server disposing of shillings.  For example:  an admin shop where the proceeds are deleted, thus reducing inflation.

In my whole 2 days on the server, it seems that there are countless ways of earning shillings (voting, killing, trading, banking, upgrading), all increasing the amount of shillings into the economy, but no way of flushing them out to keep the value up.  Some people have 100's of thousands of these things saved up, with no practical way to blow them all, except portal ships.

Some suggestions:

Admin run shop - selling necessities for not-so-cheap prices.  The profits are then discarded.

A lottery system - some kind of automated lottery pluggin that people pay into, these profits are then eaten by the server, while a small portion goes to fund the actual lottery itself

A casino - ?  not sure if its possible, but some kind of slot machines or something that a player can go blow his salary on and come home with nothing

Basically, I think it'd be a good idea to have the server  (whether it's automated or admin run) have a way of taking shillings back from the players.  Thanks 😀

A 200x200x50 area costs 200.000 Shillings to claim. Ideally I'd want at least twice that to be put into the Council project, or a sky city. So I'll need a couple more months to get that much ready. Once we get 1.2-rules, we might get several skycities above the ocean, big ones that cost quite a bit.

By the way, not many people have a few hundred thousand saved up, most of those got plans for it. Vetra will need millions, for example.

Yes. I currently have over four-hundred thousand shillings. That may seem like a lot, but the final residence cost for Vetra will be well over two-million shillings.

Its okay, Billy. Most people (myself included) don't realize how quickly costs multiply when you're working in three dimensions and paying per block. Once you factor in tall structures, you end up purchasing one heck of a lot of empty space.

Take into account the new height limit, which has made purchasing exclusive air rights over your property financially impossible.

So I just realized that I never really replied to the actual topic at hand, which was introducing new money sinks. I do really like the idea of using the government shop more expansively to anchor the price of items, however I would rather the server avoid accidentally freezing prices. I enjoy the whole supply and demand aspect of this servers market, and how even in the same day you see prices flex up and down according to people's needs, and even factoring in deals made to close friends.

Gambling would be difficult, as it would have to be entirely automated but I like the idea of a lottery. I would purchase tickets, that's for sure. I know that Meatbawllz is looking into other pay per use service ideas, but from what I've been told the costs would be smaller "convenience fees", not a money sink.

Another thing I would be wary of is causing too large a gap between donors and non donors. I understand that being a donor earns you extra perks and privileges; among those being greater financial freedom, however I am worried that if too many things are based around your access to funds, players who are unable to donate will be unable to enjoy their time here because they exist under the virtual poverty line.

We've actually discussed ways to pull money out of the economy, and are still considering options. Currently, portal ships and residence are the only factors pulling money out of circulation. One option, which has occured once before is raising land prices. I don't see the need for that quite yet, but as demand increases I do foresee it.

Agreed. My only issue with it is that the people who can donate end up with thousands of shillings and can create large residences fairly easy while people who don't are at a huge disadvantage. This is especially bad when the person who can't donate is a great person+builder.

There are 3 steps one must take to profit in today's economy: 1.) Learn from lessons taught by others 2.) Don't give away everything you know.

I understand the sense of 'unfairness' but if it weren't for the types of incentives we give donors, there would be no donors, and hence, no VeteranCraft. I still believe it's a great place to play even without upgrade perks, and we go out of our way to make the overall playing experience fair, but the perks make it worth upgrading to those who choose to, and that's why we're able to have what we have. It is what it is, and I hope you guys understand.
