Okay, so I use to be a Co-admin of a Tekkit server a while back and one of the plugins we used was called Precious Stones.

http://dev.bukkit.org/server-m.....ousstones/

This Plugin does many many different things, allot of anti-grief and some fun little doohickeys, we had the City protection one activated and we made it so an Iron block protected a 10x10 box, a Gold block protected a 20x20 box, and a diamond one protected a 50x50 block, now, these are just some examples of what you could do. We made it where anyone could use an Iron or Gold block but to get access to the Diamond block you would have to donate, or in VC's case, say, only a knight or higher could use a diamond block. We also had the Launch Pad for people who donated, when you step on it, it would launch you into the air, this was one of the fun ones. There is so much you can do with this plugin and I hope you guys decide on getting it, If you do, I would donate to use a large area protector :)

thankyou for taking the time to read all this.

It seems like a nice mod, I can definitely see why it would be useful.  If you'll pardon my Devil's Advocacy, though, what would we need it for on VeteranCraft?

  1. The defensive blocks are covered by Residence already, for protection, plotting, and bouncing.  We have LogBlock as well, for the snitching (even though that's just for donors and staff).  I imagine the reversion block would wreck havoc with the databases, too.
  2. We have PvP areas, but lethal traps aren't allowed outside of the Nether and End, so the offensive blocks would be marginalized.
  3. The tools seem useful, but they seem to be either redundant with existing tools, like we have Gold Armor for breathing underwater, or they negate some of the perks of donating, such as the god stone.

Again, not that this is a bad idea, it just seems like most of it is redundant with our existing systems.  You say you would donate to use a large area protector, but we already have Residence, which does a fantastic job of it.  If all that was needed to protect a 50x50x50 area was a diamond block, we'd have protections spammed all over the map.  Isly could claim the whole server. XD

But a 50x50x50 area is only 12,500 shillings with residence, and as a donator (or shop savy gray), that isn't hard to get at all.  Selling a single stack of gold blocks to the bank will net you nearly that much.

And now for the challenge. ;)  It does seem like you know this mod really well, so are there aspects of it aside from the Launch Pad that wouldn't be redundant or perk-nullifying?

Also, this seems to apply to existing in-game blocks.  Would using these blocks as decorations cause unintended consequences?  Example: many people use Jack-O-Lanterns as lighting or decoration.  We had the whole spawn area covered with them at Halloween.  Would the have killed everyone?

EDIT: I'm really NOT trying to put you down, or burst your bubble, or anything.  I've made more than my fair share of suggestions here.  But you have to think about these things. ;)

Don't give me any ideas, LWK! But thanks for the laugh this morning.

Anyways, I agree with all of LWK's points as well. The perks do seem redundant, and protection blocks would probably conflict with residence, if anything. I prefer the whole residence system to this as well, because the protection blocks seem strictly only to protect cubes, whereas with residence you can protect any size area you want within a limit and then could expand further, in rectangular prism shapes if need be as well.
