8/25 10:00 AM EST - Finally!! It looks like FragNet has recovered from the DDoS; at least we can get to our important control panels. I will do a once over of all systems and if everything is okay, I will re-enabled, iConomy, mcMMO, and LocalShops.

-------------------------------------------

8/25 0:07 EST - Still no news from FragNet. All their sites continue to be in accessible, even when using IP addresses. We're lucky that McMyAdmin isn't part of FragNet. But if it winds up getting hosed - which it does from time to time - we'll be S.O.L. since we couldn't access TCADMIN to restart MCMA. Cross your fingers. I continue working on an interim solution. So far nothing to report that wouldn't be taken out of context, misinterpreted, or just plain ol' misunderstood. So mums the word for now until things are final.

8/24 17:01 EST - Wow, this DDoS is a real doozy!! It has garnered enough attention that it is actually showing up in security notices at our company's NOC. I wonder who they pissed off? Our server is still runnable, which at least let's me invoke some additional backup routines for world files and plugin configurations.

I have temporarily disabled iConomy, mcMMO, and LocalShops since they are not going to be functional without a database server. At least I hope this will still let us get our MC fix in. Just keep in mind, no Shillings, no buying/selling, no stats. If that is not to your liking then I suggest you don't log on at all until this attack is over.

8/24 11:27 AM EST - It seems that FragNet is having problems with their domains. All FragNet sites - database, support, control panels, are not accessible and have been offline since about 7 AM this morning. I suspect that this is a continuation of the previous attacks. I am currently looking at an interim solution to hosting Vetrancraft until we can move into our dedicated server. That's all I'm going to say for now.

--------

UPDATE II: Per FragNet's NOC page, the problem has not yet been resolved, although our server seems to have been functioning well for the past few hours. Could just be a case of them not updating the status. I'll give it another hour before I force the question.

-------------------------------------

UPDATE: Things seem to have returned back to normal, although we haven't yet received an "all-clear" from FragNet. Use the server at your own risk.

FragNet is experiencing a huge DDoS attack at the Chicago data center resulting in all servers being shutdown. They are working in conjunction with the data center to solve the problem as quickly as possible.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experiences of others, are also remarkable for their disinclination to do so. - D. Adams
