Having temporarily removed OR and upgraded to CraftBukkit R2 seems to have lessened the effects of periodic lag. However, it is still there, just less of it. I will be re-enabled the OR later today - more so out of morbid curiosity - to see if there is still is a general improved with R2 compared to conditions prior to disabling OR.
