How to Use the New Forums | Server News | Forum

I want to apologize I didn't have this ready as soon as the updates went live guys. I'm pretty sure most of you are smarter than the average bear and have figured out most of the forum stuff, but I just wanted to post this to give you an overview of the new features.

Forum Profiles

Now you can have much more options with your profiles. You can add a signature with images, put your Skype, Facebook, etc., change your preferences, add other players to your buddies or adversaries lists, and more. Get in there and check it out.

Unread Posts

When you login to the forums, you'll see under the top right dropdown it says something along the lines of "5 topics with unread posts". You can click that and see all the posts you haven't yet read. Also, the forum icons are set to display a dirt block if you've read all the posts and a grass block if there are unread posts. You should have no trouble not missing anything.

Advanced Search

The search script is much more accurate and beneficial. You now can search exact phrase, or in certain forums, and more. This will make it much easier finding those missing forum posts you can't find anymore.

Watch List & Subscribing to Posts

At the bottom of every forum thread there's a button that says "Watch" and a button that says "Subscribe". Clicking "Watch" will throw the link to that thread into your watch list, which you can click on at the top menu bar where it says "Watching". The same basic thing happens when you subscribe, but it will actually send you an email when there's a follow up post.

Thumbs

Let players know what you think of their posts by thumbing up or down the post. Just click the thumbs in the top right of each post.

Rich Text

Now you can edit without the jankity BB code that the old forum had. You can produce more rich copy very easily now.

Font Size

At the top right of the forums, you'll see a box with 3 sizes of the letter "A". With this you can change the display font size of the entire forum.

Private Messaging

The new PM system has more options as well, such as sending PMs to multiple people at a time. To PM someone, you can do it manually by clicking "Inbox" on the top menu buttons, click on someone's profile, or click on the PM button in any forum post.

The old PM inboxes will remain live for a short time so you can access all your old PMs and save them to your computer. An announcement will be made when the old PMs are taken down. For now you can directly access them by clicking here.
