Craftbukkit has just release a beta version of its 1.6.2 implementation. Although work is still limiting my available time, we are going to try to push an update out before the next weekend.

Just a quick update to let everyone know what happenings. We have been actively testing plugin updates for 1.6.2. We've huntied down the intermittent lag bug and nailed it down to an interaction problem. Now the issue is how to fix this (not our plugins) so that it doesn't pester us in 1.6.

Last week, I thought we'd have the update out by this weekend, but family issues continue interrupting the process. I can't give a definite time yet, but its going as fast as it can given the circumstances.

At this point, I feel pretty confident to say that we will be updating to 1.6.2 before the next weekend. Right now, the only thing limiting us is available time. Mudwog had some issues arise over the weekend that has pulled him off the update and my schedule is hectic. But that's nothing new. Late nights, lots of Coke/Coffee, and so on.

I will follow up with more details in a couple of days. However, just as a heads up, we will be updating in stages. Stage 1 will be to update server software and plugins that must be updated. Stage 2 will be to update other plugins to their latest versions. After a bit of stress testing - you guys are great at that - we'll begin the process of decommissioning Seraph's Realm and generating a new Outer Reaches, unless horses magically appear in the old world or SR. If that is the case, we might hold on the world swap until 1.7, which has some major biome changes. The only thing that will not be immediate available is the mob reward plugin. However, we have an in-house version in the wings that needs some finishing touches. I expect that it will follow within a week, two at the most. It will also offer the ability to "eggify" animals, including horses so that they can be brought to Vetronia, if need be.

Slight delay from what was posted above: People at work are coming out of their "summer mode" and everything is now turning into an emergency Laugh

VC will be going into upgrade mode after Saturday's Fired Up Event. This will last until upgrades are completed and confirmed to be working properly. We have no realistic estimate of how long it will take. It could be 2 hours or 24 hours. During this time the server may shutdown unannounced or have limited access. This transition may not be as smooth as prior ones, by we will try to keep the downtime to a minimum.

We understand that weekends are about the worst time to upgrade given that they are busier periods, however, both Mudwog's and my time is at a premium and we have to work at it when we can. To repeat: the server may restart unannounced and may be shutdown for extended periods of time or only be available for testing. Keep an eye on our Twitter log located on the right margin of the home page. We will at least try to throw some crumbs out to keep you informed as to our progress.

We ask that you refrain from bugging us and staff about the particulars of the upgrade. This is especially true should you see us online. Most Vetronians know this and we thank you in advance for your understanding. All will be disclosed after we are done and you'll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions later.

Hopefully this upgrade won't been that painful as I make it sound, but if it is, bear with us, it will stop hurting once it is over.

It seems that the Power That Be are really trying to test my mettle. I was informed last night that my big brother has been diagnosed with a brain tumor warranting immediate surgery. This will definitely put a crimp in the update schedule, although I will still be working on it - after all this a more of a waiting game unless something drastic happens.
