Just a reminder that 1.5 was released today. If you upgrade without making a backup of your 1.4.7 configuration you will most likely not be able to connect to Veterancraft. See this post for more info.

The Bukkit team is being unusually secretive regarding 1.5 update efforts. While assurances have been made that they are working on it, so far it has not been acknowledged via their usual home page announcement. Without further information, I suspect that the updates are being handled by a set of folks that haven't the thick skin of their predecessors.

The good news is that I've seen signs of activity. Bukkit released a Development Build for 1.5 earlier today. For now, it gives plugin developers some thing to test against. Don't get your hopes up just yet. Bukkit is unwilling to give an ETA for a reasonably stable release other than stating "it will be done when its done." Yeah, I know... Not the best professional representation of one's self. There are enough flame wars springing up in the Bukkit forums and elsewhere regarding this. No need to start one here Kiss

If I had to make a guess, I'd say the worst case scenario is two weeks. It most likely will be sooner, but I've also seen it take longer.

It looks like the most recent 1.5 Development Build is stable enough to consider beginning our upgrades process. That means, we will be performing functional tests on our internal and third-party plugins. Don't bother asking when it will be done. I will announce significant milestones as we reach them.

Preliminary tests of 1.5 have gone well. There are still some modifications that we need to make to 3rd party plugins before we can move ahead. If everything goes as planned, we should be looking for a 1.5 update on Saturday (3/30), or sooner.
