Well, the time has come. My town needs a portal ship and has the funds for one. I need a small portal ship berth in Vetropolis Harbor. Coordinates of the ship are X= -2604, Y= 66, and Z= 4479. Screenshots in the below posts.

Two quick notes: 1) The ship look like its run aground and on the verge of tipping over; and, 2) the bridge to the south doesn't look like it would permit a ship of that size the pass under it.

Keep in mind that design and location need to be plausible. How do you evaluate plausibility? Imagine that the ship could actually float and move. Could it navigate to the open sea unencumbered?

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean by bridge to the South.

I will, however, take another crack at the design.

Couple of things I forgot to include Embarassed:

Portal ship expense should be charged to me.

Location is listed, once the ship is set up we will get a harbor around it.

Not picky on the location in Vetropolis Harbor, but if you need one I'll pick one out tomorrow after I've gotten some rest and gone to school.

I know it is hard to see, but the ship is not a flat-bottom. It is the old design (slightly modified) lowered in the water, so it has a keel, hull, etc., much like a real ship.

Thanks!

lol, sts, are you serious about that? while this certainly doesn't look like it could tip anymore, it looks like it's about to sink. or about to pop out of the water once whatever holds it down loses its grip ;-)

sts, just a suggestion here... why don't you just raise it one block level up from the level it's at now in the water and chop off the bottom two block rows so it sits more flat-bottomed in the water (basically, have one wood block row sitting above the water line and one wood block row sitting below)? I think this would fix alot of the issues with looks... and actually, I should be online tonight anyway and could even show you what i mean there if you don't mind some outside input, and again, it's just a suggestion on my part (!) from someone who's built a river boat before - you can toss anything i say if it doesn't sound like it's helping at all. ;)

You could even just lower it by one, and yes, chop off the bottom one.

As far as what frelling was saying about plausibility, you need to make sure that the boat could be free to move.

It's why Toxic_Dwarf dug his canal.

And why I've been digging out Highmoor's harbor and canal for the past month.

It's also why I made the bridge in the Outwall so ridiculously high.

Basically, you need to think about how your boat would get around the waterways of Vetronia.  And if it couldn't sail to Vetropolis, then there isn't much point in making the portal a "ship," right? Wink

In order for your request to meet that plausibility, check this out:

Guys, thank you so much for your help. I finished the portal ship, will be putting up pictures of that later. I'm about to put in a removal request for this bridge and finish deepening channels beyond it. I made a nice passageway through the water near me, time to start in this area. And again, thanks!Laugh

Note: Just put the copy of this ship in the next available small portal ship slot.

Enjoy the screenshots! First design I've honestly really liked.

Considering this is accepted, just a few things to rephrase:

1. Coordinates of ship are X= -2605, Y= 63, and Z= 4482. These are different from the previous ones because of design change.

2. 10,500 shillings are in my /money account and ready to be charged out.

3. Ship can go in the next available small portal ship slot.

4. The passageway to the ocean is now complete, except for a bridge in the way. This bridge is owned by a member who has not been on since February 2, 2013, but he is a donator, so the bridge has to stay, despite the removal request I posted. Could we make an exception this one time, and the bridge can stay? If you would like, I can dig a detour, but that would be a large waste of resources and time to bypass a bridge. Just let me know what you would like me to do. Thanks!Smile

Confused Unfortunately, I am going to have to cancel this request. I'm not sure why it has not gone through yet, but my town leader, legofishhy, was banned (again). This request is officially made void, and I will repay all donations to their owners ASAP.

Sorry for the trouble,
