OK so here's the scoop. As some of you may have read, my train station design was chosen to be built in spawn. The only problem is that the world file which had the train station design is on my computer back home. So would anyone happen to know if it's possible for someone back home to email me the original world file so that I can play it on my laptop (bearing in mind that my University has a super strict no illegal downloads policy)?

You could use dropbox(they install it and so do you)

Not sure if you know where its located.

On windows computers its located: C:\Users\{name of user on computer}\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves

Under saves has different folders, each folder represents the world.  The best way would be to copy the save from that folder place into drop box and access it from your computer.  You want to place the save into the same destination.

Also, I believe that file path is only for Vista/7/8.  XP has a slightly different variant.

OK that was all Greek to me. =/

Can someone give step by step instructions bearing in mind two thing:

1. I have no physical access to my old computer, it is sever hundred kilometres away.

2. I have the computer knowledge of a turtle (i.e. very little)

Luckily, Greek is easily translatable.

1. Download dropbox on both computers: https://www.dropbox.com/install (Dropbox is a cloud server, which essentially is a folder you drop files into and are able to access from multiple mediums.)

2. Old computer, hit the windows key + R at the same time (windows key should be located in the lower left hand side of your keyboard in between alt and ctrl).  This should open a small little window with a text box.

3. In that text box type %appdata% and hit enter

4. Double click on .minecraft, then double click on the saves folder

5. Locate the world folder you'd like to bring to the new computer, copy it and paste it in the Dropbox folder

6. On your new computer, open up drop box and the file should be there.

7. Follow steps 2-4 on the new computer.

8. In the saves folder, bring the world file from drop box into this folder.

Hope this wasn't too confusing.  There may be better methods, but this is the method I would use.

As long as you have someone on the other end who can access your laptop and do this for you, you're good to go. You might also be able to operate your laptop remotely from your location, but hopefully your mom or brother or whoever, is there to access it for you.

There are a million ways - but the one I would suggest for someone who isn't a techy (like me) is Join.me.

Just head on over to https://join.me/, and have someone back home do the same. You each download the small and simple program and presto you can have full control over your home computer. Once you've done that, you're free to upload your save file to Filebox or whichever hosting site of your choice to be downloaded on your laptop later.

We used to use their service at work until we moved to a custom client. They're reliable and trustworthy, and I still use LogMeIn to access my work computer from anywhere in the world.

Straying a little bit away from the topic but LMI is a great tool!  One of my favorites.  Makes it easy to see what's going on in another computer and file sharing is super easy.

Thanks for all the help guys! That's super helpful! =)

Now I just need to find a way to give a copy of the world to people that need it (that may not be completely necessary anyway).
