We finally closed on the new house and have moved/are moving.

Alas, we can't afford movers right now...so it is like everyday is moving day for a couple weeks.

Thank the Heavens -- today we got (cue: trumpets) INTERNET back!!!!!!!!!!

Huzzah!!!!!

The boys are loving the new house, and David and Lady_Lillian and I are ex-haust-ed.

And the little quirks you quickly find in a newly-purchased home are starting to wear thin:

"What?  This closet door doesn't close?"

"What?  The cabinet with the trash can magically opens on it's own?"

"What?  The shower-curtain rod is 6" too high, so you can't BUY a pre-made shower curtain and have it go to the bottom?"

"What?  There is ONE phone-jack in the house -- and it is in the basement next to the washer/dryer?"

"What?  That electrical outlet is totally dead?"

"What?  The living room has ONE electrical outlet?"

"What?  The boys room has ONE electrical outlet?"

"What?  The 186 lovely lights in the updated kitchen are ALL controlled by ONE switch, so everything is off or everything is on?"

"What?  That bath Poof they didn't take is cleverly disguising a REALLY UGLY epoxy-spill spot in the bathtub?"

etc etc

You get the picture.

Old houses are like used cars. You're always buying someone else's headaches. Gratz!

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experiences of others, are also remarkable for their disinclination to do so. - D. Adams

it will all come together , give it time ,, and yes there will be hiccups . new is not alway better , until you make it that way. i am on my 11th old house and the quirks of each has ticked me off. the upside - its mine [ in this case yours] , and it can become whatever you want ,, now enjoy the journey.
