For Capetown's future portalships, I'm looking for some ship designs. Any design that I find interesting enough to use, I'll pay for. Bonus fees are given for giving me a working schematic. Not giving me a schematic or savefile will result in less payment.
(+10% for MSP schematic, +0% for savefile, -20% for making me copy it down myself.)

IMPORTANT: SAILS MUST BE DONE WITH ALTERNATING COLOURS
(This allows for easy copying down the sail-shapes.)

If I like the idea but find the concept still lacking, I will provide feedback on desired changes.

**********

ACTIVE REQUESTS:
-----
Medium Scout Ship, (20.000 Shillings)
Hullsize: ~11x45
Sails: Angled at 45 degrees, like the large ships at Vetropolis.
Sailsize: Contained in 17x17 area each.
Sailamount: 3, Own Choice at front, Big at center, Medium at back.
Cannons: Required.
Cannonamount: Medium.
Special requirement: Minimum of two entry points on each side, one in front, one in back.
Special requirement: Reinforced hull, for an example see the large ships at Vetropolis.[/s]
-----
Medium Cargo Ship, (20.000 Shillings)
Hullsize: ~13x40
Sails: Angled at 0 degrees.
Sailsize: Maximum width of the mainsail area can be 21 (4+13+4). No specific requirements on how high/deep, as long as it seems believable.
Sailamount: 3, Medium. Must be fully identical.
Cannons: Required.
Cannonamount: Large.
Special requirement: Minimum of two entry points on each side, one in front, one in back.
Special requirement: Reinforced hull, for an example see the large ships at Vetropolis.
-----

- Hullsize is the max size of the hull itself. Sails and anything sticking out at the front do not apply here, only the hull itself does.
- Note that size can be slightly off, but in the end there are only so many slots I can create in my port, so keep any differences reasonable.
- A ship should be reasonably deep in the water, depending on its size. A small ship with a low mast won't be 6 deep, a fat one won't be a mere 1 deep in the water.
- Cannons simply translates to obsidian with stoneslabs around them, like at the large ships in Vetropolis.
- Cannon amounts are relative and translate to a density. A bigger ship also will have more, since it can have more decks. A sluggish medium cargo ship will require several gundecks spread all over the hull, whereas a scout only requires a few batches.
- Suggestions on the best materials are welcome but will not be rewarded. A design showing a nice mixture of materials, however, might.

EXPIRED/FROZEN REQUESTS
-----
[s]Small Scout Ship, (4000 Shillings)
Hullsize: ~7x20
Sails: Angled at 45 degrees, like the large ships at Vetropolis.
Sailsize: Contained in 11x11 area each.
Sailamount: 1 big one, may include a small one at the very front.
Cannons: Allowed.
Cannonamount: Low.
Special requirement: Reinforced hull, for an example see the large ships at Vetropolis.[/s]
-----
[s]Small Cargo Ship, (6000 Shillings)
Hullsize: ~12x25
Sails: Can be angled at 60, 45, 30 or 0 degrees.
Sailsize: Maximum width of the mainsail area can be 16 (2+12+2). No specific requirements on how high/wide, as long as it seems believable.
Sailamount: 2, one big one and one big/medium/small.
Cannons: Required.
Cannonamount: Medium.
Special requirement: Reinforced hull, for an example see the large ships at Vetropolis.[/s]
-----
[s]Small Nether Scout Ship, (10000 Shillings)
Hullsize: ~9x25
Sails: Angled at 45 degrees, like the large ships at Vetropolis.
Sailsize: Contained in 15x15 area each.
Sailamount: 1 big one, 1~2 smaller ones.
Cannons: Total must.
Cannonamount: Medium.
Special requirement: No wood or wool! This means that any kind of Crow's Nest would require a different kind of climbing method.

Note: Capetown design will probably use Lapis for the hull, Iron for the masts, Glass for the sails. Netherbrick Fences on the deck, + Glowstone. No Gold because it'd melt, no Diamonds because they're too expensive, no Obsidian because the cannons already use that. You don't necessarily need to use these materials for your design though.[/s]

Doubled the payments offered. Keep in mind that a design does not have to have the full materials the real thing would need, though it's preferred because that lets me see what it'd really be like.

I still noticed a few things I'd like to change, but that's already at the level where I'll be adjusting the design myself. The general design I like quite a bit now. Could you remove the scaffolding so I can take a last look, before I pay you 6.000 Shillings and start writing down the design?

Bought the shipdesign, still interested in smaller designs fitting the requirements above. Also, added a special requirement for shipdesigns: The sails must be done with alternating colours of wool. This allows for easy copying the sails.

The first post has been updated with 2 new requests! I am looking for Medium Scout Ships and Medium Cargo Ships, both requests have been marked as worth 20.000 Shillings. Since I desire a total of 5 Medium ships, I'm willing to pay for 2 different Scout and 1 Cargo design.

A bonus-fee of 10% is added to anyone delivering a schematic for the Minecraft Structure Planner. A singleplayer savefile will pay as normal, if I have to copy the design down manually I will pay 20% less (so only 16.000).

If you make the design in Veterancraft, consider using the structure planner as you build or demolish, so that I can still take a look and offer feedback, while you won't get paid less for making me copy down the design myself.

xx

Small requests have been closed. Right now I have 2 ship designs from Swithin0 and a partially-done Nethership design, those will suffice for now. That's a Scout and a Cargo design for a total of 6 ships and then the Nethership. I might reopen a design request later, but for now I'm focusing on getting Medium designs.

Here's a download of the structure planner file for the boat I have so far. It's nothing really all that great yet. I've been working on it when I get the chance but with being busy almost 24/7, it's taking longer than expected xD

Seems like by taking out the lower layer of the places where the deck is 2 or even 3 thick (front and back) you can get some extra rooms/subdecks in there. At the back that could be a place where the cargo hold has 2 layers (most likely used as sleeping area then, could fit 12~18 beds), at the front you could lower the cargo-hold height and make it accessable from the main deck, for a second cabin. That'd also cause the hull to be split into 3 separate areas, 1 for the sleeping area, 1 for the main hold, 1 for a smaller hold at the front.

Of course the bigger question is: Do you want cannons in the main hold (and a 1-high storage area with non-functional chests under that), or just on the main deck, and where exactly? (Also: 3rd mast at center y/n?)

After doublechecking the current designs I had, which I narrowed down, I decided to aim for thinner* ships. As a result, the one you made is basically a Cargo ship now, rather than a Scout. Since you're the only current active designer, I'm not updating the requirements for now, until I decide for sure. You can go ahead with the ship without worries, I can always increase/reduce the amount of cannons later.

I do have 1 request: Could you leave space both at the front and the back of the main deck (so inbetween the front and back raised decks) for exits off the ship? It'd be easier for me to fit them into the port if I can use either back or front as the entry point.

*: Ideally, hulldimensions (excluding parts sticking out) of 1:3 for Cargo, 1:4 for Scouts. Your current design is 13x40 (+ the front part), with a design-size of 45-long. That about-perfectly matches the 1:3.

I apologize for this but I'm still getting used to ordering shipdesigns so didn't know the best dimensions and phrasing to aim for. :) I'll update the phrasing later on.

Alright, I'll try to change it up a bit. Just might take longer to finish cause I've been pretty busy irl. With the few hours I get inbetween shifts, they tend to go towards my sleep cycle xD. Feel free to drop me from the project for now but when I do get the time to finish, I'll post it up for you.

Remodeling the ship designs I originally have bought has taken quite a bit of time, so I still got plenty of time until I need the medium designs. :) So no worries there.

For example, the scout ship was made 2 thinner, 1 cannon dropped on each side, hull had spots for beds and chests added, the cabin on the back was replaced with a slightly-raised platform, a double-cannon was placed on that platform, the entrance is 1 below deck-level now which required a bit of editing but the only non-ugly alternative required 1-above deck-level which meant a rather high altitude difference.

Medium designrequests were changed, hullsize now is actively defined as being just the hull itself. Sails can stick out, as well as whatever you call the part sticking out past the bow.
I also adjusted the size-requests. The Medium Cargoship now has a requested hullsize of 13x40, resulting in a 1:3 ratio. The Medium Scoutship now has a requested hullsize of 11x45, resulting in a 1:4 ratio. These widths are fixed, designs may not increase them. It's okay for a scoutship to vary between 43 and 47, but a width of 12+ is strictly forbidden. Similarly, a cargo design can be 38 to 42 long but its hull may not ever be wider than that 13. These ratios have been confirmed to be the limits that look decent, resulting in a severe adjusting of the small designs I bought in the past.

While these designs will be longer than anticipated, their locations are in such a position that I will be able to manage. However, that depends on one important thing: The Medium designs need 4 possible entrypoints, symmetrically 2 on each side, split over front and back. This way, I only need to be able to reach either front or back of the ship with the docks.

--------------

There may be a Colossal request in the future, one with a hullsize of 15x75, which is slightly wider than the known Large ships and 25% longer. Such a request would be minimum 60k. I might turn that design into a contest, with prices for first, second and third as 60k/30k/10k.

I can reserve 150k minimum for Council Purposes this next month, the month after that adds 50k. That means I can pay a decent chunk of its initial residence cost. Unfortunately my pockets are the biggest, since I'm the only rich guy who doesn't really plan to hugely expand his city. The only other person I know that the Council could ask support from would be frelling.
