Hello. I wanted to request for consideration the following in air floating build:

A helicarrier from avengers. Here's one somebody designed that I'd like to replicate closely (the internals may be a little different)
http://www.minecraftforum.net/.....-1-1-scale

The purpose for this would be to have an in air "dock" to be used for other airships, airworthy craft such as planes (as it has a runway), choppers (locations on deck and inside for docking), as well as balloons (locations on deck away from the props.

Modifications would include lighting to reduce spawn that won't interfere with the air worthiness of the craft. This isn't an island to build structures on and only approved docking craft would be built there or decorative crafts (Quinjets, etc) would be there as well
also, it would have to be manned so, if approved, I plan on having some villagers on the bridge to run everything.heli14.jpgImage Enlargerheli15.jpgImage Enlargerheli20.jpgImage Enlarger

What is the size of something like this? It's very substantial, seemingly, and if it will have portals then it will need to he claimed. Also what height do you propose building this at, meaning what is the lowest point? Keep in mind the height of it and any needed height above for additional aircraft.

I'll be honest, this worries me. We don't issue approvals for floating builds for very good reasons, and the size alone leaves me wondering whether this can be done or will be finished. I'm not saying to make it smaller, but rather that there would have to be guarantees that this would be finished, and consequences if it's abandoned.

I'm going to be out for the weekend with the wife and kids but when I get back I'll get a world download and use mc edit to get the exact measurements and materials.

I understand your very valid concerns and I'd like to offer the following as a way to address them

1. I'll get the exact measurements and build materials needed

Measurements (bounding size not all solid materials):

Height: 115

Width: 347

Length: 587

Locations:

Top Tower (Y): 231

Flight Deck (Y): 200

Bottom of Carrier (Y): 116

Docks will be built on the flight deck which is at 200 leaving 56 to build height (accomodating even craft designed for Exodus specs of 50 high)

2. I'll stock those materials up in a separate storage claimed in the location underground so you will have assurances that I have enough to build it and to claim it

3. I'll get others to pledge to help to assure you that it can be built

4. You can specify what you feel is a reasonable time frame for completion of the visible outer shell and optionally the inner one as well. The end of which, if not completed by, you can nuke it (no hard feelings on my part and thanks for the chance)

Edited to include measurements on 8/21/2015

Thanks Adml.  Staff will discuss this one and consider it.

1. We would encourage raising it up as high as you can, so the top of the tower is at y255.  This will keep the bottom further off the ground.  This would still give you 31 in height for smaller airships, so long as you don't to massive vehicles.

2) A 347x587 Claim would be 203,689 claim blocks, or 1,425,823 shillings if all were purchased.

3&4) A timeframe would not be required, if approval is given, so long as it's not abandoned mid-build.  Floating structures are held to that much a higher standard because they are Variances of the Rules: we would want it done. So long as you are working on it, and don't go inactive or just leave it for another project indefinitely, you'd be allowed to take your time.

As for the consequences I mentioned, should the project be abandoned and permission be revoked, you'd have the opportunity to remove the build yourself.  If it must be removed by staff, the claim would be deleted without the return of the claim blocks (as always happens when admins delete a claim) and nature would be restored to the chunks.  As /restorenature does the entire vertical chunk, any builds built on the ground below would also be deleted.

We'll be in touch about it, enjoy your weekend!

That is very much appreciated and the height sounds perfect. There's a slightly lower deck as well that gives room.

If you'd want the entire thing claimed up front I'll get to work in that.

Here's a link to a world download I edited to remove the water, etc to make it easier to calculate the blocks, etc. for reference

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/51002357/MineCraft/helicarrier.zip

This includes existing quinjets, etc that will probably not be included but gives a good general idea

Also, some blocks won't be 1:1 such as gold and iron (If approved I'd find cheaper alternatives)

Analysis from mc edit about the blocks used

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/51002357/MineCraft/helicarrier_21_08_2015_16_16_14.csv

I'll setup some analysis spreadsheets to break this down into specific stack counts and chests needed and, if approved, look at breaking this thing into discrete parts and slices for building with a frame guide

Please understand that LWK's comments are just discussion points. It is not an approval of or nod toward the project. This will require some deliberation.

On a side note: The ship would cast a large shadow creating a large day time mob infestation. What is underneath it?

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experiences of others, are also remarkable for their disinclination to do so. - D. Adams

Completely understood and my research and outline of requirements is meant to show my intention to complete it if approved.

I figured it would be out in the ocean for that very reason (not to mention that fits with the Avengers where the base for it was beneath the sea)

Contingent upon your approval:

Thinking of building here:

http://maps.veterancraft.net/a.....038;z=5629

which is at least 18 chunks from nearest land mass (Island I live on) so it won't affect load of nearby players and nowhere for mobs to spawn

I also wanted to mention that, so far, SmellyTramp has offered to assist with it and that altogether we have over 1m shillings so that will help cover any expenditures that arise.

Thank you for taking the time to deliberate and consider it regardless of the outcome. It means a lot that you all are so diligent regarding the rules and also consider requests like this from the community.
