Hey,
First of all, I want to say why I have been absent for so long, short answer is because it's in 1.6.4. I do not wish to continue playing on a server when it is outdated, as I see no point to. I would much rather play with the majority of other players in the most recent version of Minecraft. Of course, I may come back once the server is updated, even if it's about 5 months after 1.7 came out.
Okay, on to the main subject. So I've seen recently that the number of sign ups for events have decreased, maybe for a few reasons:
- The quality of the events has decreased.
- The server's overall player count has gone down.
- People just don't want to join.
So I thought I would offer a few suggestions to the community to think about and maybe progress that suggestion further.
- Limited build supplies event - Players would be given a limited amount of supplies to build with, then would have time to create their best structure they could build with said materials. Judges would then decide the winners.
- More challenge type events - The recent events have been more competition events, and those are fun, but wouldn't the occasional challenge be fun too? By this I mean things like 'Who could do this the best' or 'Who could do that the quickest' not 'Who is the best at this'.
- Bring your own build offs - Completely pure build off - No set structure to be created, but whatever the player thinks could win them the match, whether it be a huge mansion, or a Rube Goldberg redstone machine.
- Trails (If that's the right word for it) - Players would start inside a building at spawn, and would each have a book stating the first clue, they would then go and look for the next clue and so on. Once they reach the end they would have found the 'secret treasure' and would win the treasure and the match. A race, basically.
That's just a few suggestions, and I'd love to hear any ideas you have to improve the weekly events.
Thank you for reading,
vEchozZ.

Quick build-offs like 15-30 min buildoffs might also work. I know there are people like me here in Europe who can't stay up all night. Therefor it's better to have quick buildoffs other than huge 2 hour projects.
Dan
That is an idea, another one is moving the start time back an hour or two. This would mean us Europeans wouldn't have to stay up *as* late. But this would also mean some players may not be able to attend, as many jobs do not finish until the evening. Emulated doesn't get back until like half an hour before the event, right? That could be a problem for him, if what I remember is true.

I have a few suggestions as well:
PvP BuildOff:
Prize Guess: 1st: 25,000, 2nd: 23,000, and 3rd: 20,000
Time Limit: Yes, Time (If yes): 1-2 Hours
Objectives: Win the BuildOff, but at the same time prevent other teams from building.
Rules: No Donor Perks, No Guard Walls, and No Griefing (Depending on the BuildOff)
Teams: 1-6 Teams
Example: Each team is given a Log Cabin BuildOff , they would have 1 Hour and 30 minutes to finish it. While building, Team 1 set up a TNT Cannon and fired over into Team 2's Plot. One of Team 2's members was killed and a small skirmish started over the items the member dropped. Team 1 snags the items and returns to building. While building their Log Cabin, Team 4 notices they have a small amount of Spruce Logs left, they attack Team 1 and take their wood. At the same time, Team 5 and 6 have made large amounts of progress with their builds and have set up guards along the perimeter to prevent others from getting in (This is how the BuildOff should go). Team 5 finished their Build and attacked Team 6 to stop the progress and hopefully secure the victory. Times up! 1st Place: Team 5, 2nd Place: Team 6 and 3rd Place: Team 3.
Castle Wars:
Prize Guess: 1st Place: 16,000 and Runner-Up: 13,000
Time Limit: None
Objectives: Take out the other team. Destroy the castle and steal the enemy flag.
Rules: No Donor Perks.
Teams: 2 Teams
Example: Two teams are given a Pre-Built Castle and set off destroying the other Castle along with firing arrows into the other Castle. Team 1 sends pocket teams into the other Castle to try and steal the flag. The offensives were pushed back and Team 2 begins to fire large amounts of TNT over into the enemy castle and destroys the Guard Wall. Which creates a weakness in Team 1's defenses. Team 2 rushes the Castle and kills all the defenders and snags the flag. Team 2 then sets up TNT and destroys the Castle. Team 2 wins.
Future BuildOffs:
- Log Cabin
- Light House (Not Clocktower)
- Ancient Greek/Roman
- Modern Towers
- Warships
- Pixal Art II
- Clocktower II
- Nature Park
- Glass-Only
Other Former Events:
- Dig Dug
- Fired Up
- Tron
- Unarmed PvP
More "Large-Scale" Events:
- Capture the Flag
- Mazes and Trivia
- Animation Contest
- Town Contest
- Dig Dug (I believe this should be held)
Large-Scale Event Ideas:
- Events In Select Locations
- A "Massive" Ventrilo/Skype Video-Event (Hunger Games, Dig Dug or a Treasure Hunt)
- All out war Events
- Large Pay Events
Now I know not all these Events can be held or used. But these are some ideas I thought up, and some other Events I would like to see again.
Hope you enjoy!

Hello, great to see some replies!
Some of your ideas do intrigue me, NetherSpartan5. Particularly the Maze, PvP Build Off, Glass Only Build Off and Castle Wars.
Maze
- The Maze could be built out of glass or ice to make it very tricky, or even completely dark in the maze with no open light.
- I know SuperSheep23 made a maze beneath Silvercliff, maybe intended towards events but I do not know if it is play-able yet.
- Different starts; players would have to start in separate places so no-one could follow someone all the way around.
- Traps? Maybe hide a few zombies or skeletons in there to scare or even kill the player, but maybe equip the player with a wooden sword to protect themselves.
Glass Only Build Off
- Glass Only Build Off would be cool, and we could do a different 'X Only' build off another time, particularly wool, netherrack or clay.
- Would it be one color, or, with the new stained glass, be multiple colors or any color the player chooses, even multiple colors?

How about a Settler's of Catan-style event? I saw this http://www.minecraft-schematic.....atic/2270/ and thought something based on the classic table-top game could be a fun event, especially since Settler's is a resource-gathering game, just like Minecraft.
Here are some points I can think of off the top of my head. The idea would be to follow the board game's rules as closely as possible, so it would probably be important for players to be familiar with the actual game.
- "Mini" biomes (say 5x5 for example) that hold a resource (wood, stone, brick, wool, and wheat in the board game.
- Everyone for themselves. Each player would be given a colored dye to color their towns and roads (if you're familiar with the game).
- Assign each mini-biome a number 1-12, which could simply be typed on a sign on the biome. Devise some sort of number-generator to act like a die/dice.
- Players build towns (likely a small hut in a server-style game) and roads in the space between mini-biomes using dye-able blocks like wool or glass or hardened clay that they dye with their color.
- Building resources could be gathered from the mini-biomes instead of sticking to the five specific resources found in the game and mentioned above.
- Players can only gather resources from biomes adjacent to where they have a structure when the number assigned to that biome is "rolled". (maybe put a chest full of a resource on it's biome... i.e. a chest full of wool on a "sheep" biome.)
- Players take turns adding buildings (as they acquire the resources) and "rolling" the dice
- Point-based game where points give for each "town" built. Players can trade a certain number/type of resource for victory points too. First to 10 points wins.
- Optional: Have a "robber" to shut down a resource whenever a certain number (i.e. 7...) is rolled.
If you want to know what the actual game looks like, just google "Settler's of Catan" and look at some images. Actual game rules can be found with a simple search too.

I kicked around some ideas over the past few weeks, and this is what I came up with:
PvP Prison:
Prize Guess: 1st: 45,000+Assorted Prizes
Time Limit: None
Rounds: 1
Objectives: Survive the Prison Life, Reach Safety, Don't Get Killed by the Guards or other Prisoners
Rules: No Donor Perks, Don't Kill the Guards, and No Cheating
Teams: Free For All
Example: You are put in a prison with no equipment, no weapons and under the watchful eyes of the guards. You are confronted with the Rules: Don't get caught bringing certain items into certain areas (ex. Sword in the PvP Designated Areas) and so on. You make your way into the "Courtyard", which is a PvP Area, and you can get killed by prisoners or by guards that catch you doing wrongdoings. You race over to the Free Zone, which is a PvP Area, but you can gather supplies from trees to mining ores. After surviving the first part of the day, you gather all the items you collected and head to a Store. In this store, you can sell your ores and stuff along with buy better equipment. Other key items in the store are the Grinder/Enchantment Room and a Smelting Room. Since killing another prisoner while under the watch of guards is highly dangerous, prisoners must make daring kills or they must hold off until they are in an unknown location. While prison life is going on, some players might take a chance and mine out of the prison. But underneath the prison, is a large network of traps and cells that trap the prisoner and kill them. At the end of the day, you are tired and you need a safe place to rest until the guards wake you, you can purchase a cell with the money you earned from selling at the store. You purchase one, and store your items away till tomorrow. During the nighttime, the guards go away for a while, leaving the prisoners alone. The Event can go many ways from here: 1). The Prisoners kill each other off. Guards also join the free for all. 2). They stay in there cells until the alarm. 3). Prisoners take control of the prison and fight each other off. Now there are tons of possibilities. But up until the Night Alarm, Prisoners can't kill the Guards. After the Night Alarm, the Prison then becomes a war-zone if the other prisoners perform such actions. By the end, the player that wins escapes the prison's traps and is the last man standing.
Extra Information: If this is a tad bit hard to understand, I will work on a video that shows how the Event would play out.

So I've pretty much ran out of ideas, but I have toiled around with this one since the beginning. Now that we're seeing a rise in population/events, this is the perfect time to unleash my new plan:
All-Out War:
Prize Guess: Victor: N/A Loser: N/A
Time Limit: N/A (To make this interesting, maybe a week?)
Objectives: Win the war. Either by winning battles (kept in a point system), or the other team surrenders.
Rules: Follow all of VeteranCraft's Rules. 1). PvP must remain on in the settlements involved in the war.
Teams: At least two teams. Teams can be the following: Cities, towns, settlements, Lone Wolves (People that live alone), Underground Bases, Your pet cat, the entire team of the Miami Dolphins, ect. Yes, you can ally yourselves with other towns. So pretty much it's a Axis vs. Allies-style.
Before we dive into this Event, I've been saving up time to brainstorm this bad boy. In no way does this reflect Factions (which I have a deep dislike for), and it's not meant to be a haven for those silly enough to ignite internet drama. This is for fun! Now I did get inspiration from the past Wars on VeteranCraft, but in no way will this Event be like those. All drama, no fun. Now, if you have something out for someone else (i.e. He/she killed me in the End, City rivalry, ect.), this may be for you.... just don't get carried away.
Example: So, I will use the towns, Havenshurg and Mithundril, as an example. So NetherSpartan5, the leader of Mithundril, has it out with NetherSpartan5 of Havenshurg. The two have been enemies in the Merchant Hall Stalls for a while. So after learning about this Event, NetherSpartan5 of Havenshurg declares All-Out War on Mithundril and the two prepare for war. The two towns arm themselves and turn PvP on, and engage each other at Mithundril. Of course, with a strong background in military-thinking, NS5 and Mithundril win. Now Innsbruck and Sgt_Hurls (Pure example) have been allies with NetherSpartan5 and Mithundril for a while, and declares war on Havenshurg. So Innsbruck turns on PvP and attacks Havenshurg along with Mithundril. Watching his friends get destroyed by Innsbruck/Mithundril, sioustorm and Sparta ally with Havenshurg. The war then tips in favor of Sparta/Havenshurg until Highmoor (again, an example. Hope you don't mind LightWarriorK) feels that Havenshurg has been getting a little too close to their borders, declares war on Havenshurg. The tide turns against Sparta and Havenshurg, and they surrender the next day. Highmoor, Mithundril and Innsbruck win the day!
Note: I don't think this should take over an Event slot on Saturday, I think this should be held at anytime, anywhere. Not on a set time. Another thing, no one should declare war on someone JUST CAUSE, there should at least be a reason. This also brings me to a set of unofficial rules: 1). Don't be an internet dummy. Internet drama is silly, stupid and other things. Just avoid the person if you feel it's getting too heated. 2). Don't talk behind someone's back in Party Chat. Really... it ties in with what I just said. Just don't do it.
Anyways, hope you enjoy!
