I am hosting a design contest open to the entire server.

Goals: Design and build a castle with certain block limitations and a certain style in mind (see screenshots below)

Rewards:

1st : 100,000 shillings + 1month of Bishop donator status.  (if you're already a bishop or higher, tough luck on this one)

2nd : 30,000 shillings

3rd : 10,000 shillings

Rules and Specifications:

- Build must be completed in singleplayer, upon completion the world save will be e-mailed to billy102087@yahoo.com

- Build style is obviously medieval

- Build should consist of the main color scheme of Black Wool + Quartz (blocks/stairs/slabs/pillars, etc) + Spruce Wood (roofing? you decide) I am open to ideas here, this is not set in stone.

- Size should be massive. The space it will be built within is 160wide, 77long, and starts at 9above sea level.

- It must attach to a currently standing structure (/res tp Isle , for you donors) - this structure is shown in the screenshots at the end of the bridge. It is 9 blocks high and 7 wide, this will be the main entrance for the castle you are designing.

- By submitting a world save to me, you are allowing me to use any and all designs/ideas within to be built in Vetronia.

- By winning first place, you may be called upon to help build your design in Vetronia with me.

Time Frame: Contest starts on Monday May 20th and ends on Saturday June 22nd.  This is an entire month, in singleplayer - your builds should be fantastic and worthy of the prices offered.  Donor will be paid for once a winner is picked.

Side Notes: Take a look around the residence currently in place in the screenshots, as well as in game. I believe the closest portal ship is Hyberd Resort, or /res tp Isle.

Good Luck!

Also:

Use this forum thread to post questions/comments/complaints/screenshots of progress.

If you find yourself still questioning what it is you should be building, my hints to you are that I love the Archive building, I love Vetra, and I like hard-to-acquire blocks mixed into the build (Gold blocks mix really well with the black wool).

Here is an overhead of the area. S/SW portion of the map. To the west of the giant Pherian stadium.

Do you want us to decorate interiors as well?

Good point to bring up! As far as interiors go, the only thing I require is a master bedroom and a garden. The rest can be an empty skeleton/rooms which I'll finish up furnishing.  The building should not be hollow, it should still have empty rooms. You do have an entire month in creative to work on it, so get fancy :)

So the structure at the end of the bridge will remain there?

Yes, this will be your entrance. In your singleplayer builds all you need to do is make the entrance 7wide, 9high off the ground. It will then hook up to what is already at the end of the bridge. (In a sense, you don't even need to build a front to the building, as the bridge+structure can serve as the front)

So the contest has started, you still have 31 days to build.  I am posting some Questions and Answers I've gotten over the last day to help everyone out.

Q: How tall is the structure at the end of the bridge?

A: 33 blocks tall, towers/buildings should probably be taller

Q: Are we using the structure at the end of the bridge in our build?

A: That structure is there to guide you with the proportions, as well as the style of what I'm looking for. You can build your own entrance and if I like yours enough, I'll tear mine down and use yours!

Q: Can we build underground, or stay above ground only?

A: You can build anywhere, as long as it's within that 160x77 space, all the way from sky limit to bedrock.  Just remember, keep it proportional and practical looking.

Q: How do you feel about hidden rooms?

A: Go for it! You'll be building in creative, so let the creativity flow.  I enjoy redstone that makes me scratch my head.

Q: Can we copy your bridge+entrance into our singleplayer world and build/modify it?

A: Absolutely, whatever will help you.

Check out the 5th shot down, it's facing west. So 160 wide is north to south, 77 long is east to west. Of course I don't just want a square design, there's a lot of room to maneuver different styles/buildings in that space, the screenshot will give you a better idea.
