Here are the location for the different boats. All perms should be enabled. If there's a problem talk to me.

Honwithit I need the depth of you ship so I can see where I can put it.

Good luck to all contestants!

About 15 blocks deep

When you ask for happiness and a beautiful life, ask not just for you, but for everyone. When you ask for something better, ask not just for you, but for everyone. By all means ask for abundance and health for you, but also ask for it to be given to everyone. Can you imagine what would happen if six billion people asked for these things for you? :)

As of last Sunday my grandfather passed away. On Friday my mom called and told me that he was dying and I spent Friday afternoon at the hospital with him from 3pm north American central time. I was also there for the majority of the weekend. Long story short I was not really able to be on the server as well it wouldn't have been appropriate for me to make Minecraft a priority over family. So I am asking if I might be able to get an extension since I wasn't able to be there when the event started. I'm not doing this just so I can have more time but mainly for the fact that I probably won't be able to finish in less than 2 weeks worth of time. If not I will probably have to drop out due to a lack of time to successfully complete the ship. Also I would like to ask if the ships sails are aloud to be above the docks.

Frenchy,

We don't have perms to build the bowsprit and the tail of the ship is currently unclaimed.  I wanted to see if you could fix that for us and we can finish the core structure of the ship.

Until so we'll work on the sails and detail work.

Thanks for helping us out yesterday but after a seemingly unexpected crash I don't have any perms on the boat anymore and the expanded claim seems to have been rolled back to what it was before leaving the back end unprotected.

I suspect the same applies to Phil and Hon but not sure.

Alright.

Due to GP issues, everyone will get an extra week. Evenly.

That means the event, if the time isn't extended again, will end next Friday.

And please, this isn't directed at anyone in particular but more to everyone; Please do not guilt trip me (Guilt trip being used very, very generally here) into extending your time. It puts me in an extremely awkward situation that honestly I do not want to answer to. I will not be giving individual extensions. Call me cold hearted if you want.

Frenchy,

I'm able to work again. Thanks for taking care of the perms.

Would you mind please extending the claim on our ship just 3 more blocks to the south? My mainmast's course (largest sail on the ship) just needs to be 3 blocks wider on that side.

Things are coming along great for our team. I just wanted to ask a favor:

can you give containertrust to public before judging?

What time, if known, should we consider build time to stop at which point well pack up the resources/ build materials, etc?

I'm thinking of adding more time still, because not everyone is done and considering we only have three contestants, I would like for no one to get disqualified. Please finish your boats in as much detail as you desire. Just don't take too long.

Just as a heads up, my time for the next week will be highly sparse and sporadic, and then I'm gone from 10/29 until 11/10.  If I don't get to judging, you can choose to do whatever you want: extend the competition, close it and wait for my return, or appoint another as judge.  Your call, Snow. Laugh

The boat building competition shall be officially over this Wednesday. If your boat isn't complete (Looking at you, Hon), you will be disqualified. You've all had ample time.

Due to an accident, I was unable to finish my ship within an acceptable timeframe given by the creator and judges, I would like to take this time and remove my entry from consideration. I would like to buy the claim and protect it and build at my leisure. But I can not allow more time to pass that keeps the other contestants from being judged when they finished their respective ships within the timeframe.

I will be on from time to time and I look forward to seeing who will win. I wish you all good luck and I will see you all at the top!

Well, it's been a long time coming but the contest is now officially over. LWK is going to be judging the boats this week and the winner should be announced shortly. Best of luck to all contestants.

Ok, judging.  I could do this very technically, but I think everyone has waited long enough, and the ship types are too different to really judge on the same scale.  So judging will be done based on my [not insignificant] gut.  I'll post my thoughts.

1st Place: AdmlAdama

The amount of detail is astounding.  I couldn't get the song to work....but the complexity probably makes it problematic.  Even with that flaw, the shape of the ship and sails is great.  Very well done.

2nd Place: PhilosopherPhil

Great design!  Well detailed.  I love the wanted poster.  The stained clay seemed a little off to me.

3rd Place: Honwithit

Epic size, and great overall shape.  However the detail isn't there to support that size.  Aside from the cannons, there's really not much to the interior.

Honorable Mention: Tedisvet

Fitting for Jack Sparrow's grand entrance. Smile

Congrats to all for your great ships!

Sounds like the right person won the contest! Have you seen the steering wheel too LWK??
I am glad I got an honorable mention, building a ship worthy for the greatest pirate who ever was, that's something barely anyone hopes to achieve!

Note: I believe AdmlAdama's boat was a group efford?

That's amazing especially considering the competition we were up against. Everybody's work was amazing!

Ted is right that it was a huge cooperative effort with me, SmellyTramp and pixel_chic and some awesome people who helped getting stuff prepped including DathMontoya and djay
