Sparta: The Town of NetherSpartan5

First to the Fight

Information: Sparta has been my town for around eleven months now. I have gone through two forum threads for the town, but none of them were official in my eye. Most of the builds I posted on the threads were scrapped or the projects were terminated. During the recent months, I along with the help of MikeB1974 and sioustorm (and others, sorry if I forgot your names) have constructed a "newer" version of the town that simplified the former "project" even greater. Our town will be the same pretty much, but there are some new features you will be seeing soon.

Old Features (That are staying):

  • The Visitor Center: We have had almost four Visitor Centers. I think this one will be staying for good. The overall design of the tower is awesome (Thanks sious) and it's interior allows for a nice water elevator I plan to add soon.
  • Ancient Greek Theme: I loved the Ancient Greek feel of my old town. I pretty much love Ancient Greek Architecture all around (hence my love for the architecture of another town: Rhodes). So this is a feature of my town that will be staying.
  • Military-Theme: Another key feature of Sparta is the powerful military it contains (mostly for show).
  • Strong Diplomatic Ties: I plan to have strong connections to many towns, even now I have ties to towns such as Innsbruck.

New Features:

  • Medieval Theme: I love the nostalgic feel I get when I look at pictures of castles and fortresses from long ago. I can't wait to see how the medieval feel blends with the Ancient Greek style once construction begins.
  • New Possibilities: We could be looking at a possible name change for the town, but right now, this is not likely to happen.
  • Spartan Art: I will be working on more "flags" and symbols for Sparta in the near future.
  • More Builds: Most of these are secret at the moment.

More information coming soon!

Sparta: The Town of NetherSpartan5

First to the Fight

Information: It has been almost a month Since construction on the "The Wall of the Archmage" started. So that means I have to keep a very careful eye on my un-resed town while also constructing the inner city. But hopefully I can fix the residence issue once I can acquire more money. I Plan to do a similar process that LightWarriorK did with Highmoor, with a buffer and resing a single building. That way, I can keep most of my money, and still be protected at the same time. Another big project I've somewhat finished is the Road Hub, which is where all roads of Sparta meet. After the official res of Sparta is finished, I plan to add a beacon in the center to point people in the direction of Sparta.

For any residents of Sparta: If you Are a resident of Sparta, you have a decision to make. The first option is: You are moving out of Sparta, which means you need to destroy any interior items, pack your bags. You WILL be refunded the 250 or 2500 shillings you paid to buy the house. The second option is: You are planning to purchase a free build plot, a TaveRn, or an Apartment Room. You are advised to move your items elsewhere, as the house will be destroyed soon. If you do choose to stay in Sparta, you will not be refunded. BUT, the 250 or 2500s will go towards the payment of the future house you plan to buy. If you have not logged on in 30 days (or 60 if you are a donor), your house will be removed without question. That means your items will be lost, along with no refund. LeT this be a reminder to check the forums often. But I will ask any Spartan residents in-game to check the forum thread. The reason for the destruction of Old Sparta: Old Sparta is on the chopping-block, and I plan to remove it to make way for New Sparta.

Spartan's Lore Wiki Work: I have finished 75% of Sparta's Lore Wiki page. I do need to step iT down a bit with Sparta's amount of "edits"... but I'm almost finished. Here is the link to the page:  http://www.veterancraft.net/lo.....3ASparta

Future Buildings: Sparta's buildings will follow two categories: Lore and Official. Lore would be anything that is related to Sparta by a story or just artwork. Official would be anything that has a job (ex. Bank, Capitol, NetherSpartan's Mansion). Here is the list of buildings so far:

Lore:

  • The Majestic Hall of Valhalla
  • Pixel Art (VeteranCraft Logo, Sparta Banner, MineCraft, US Military Emblems, etc.)
Official:
  • NetherSpartan's Mansion
  • SiouStorm's Mansion
  • Sgt_Hurl's Mansion
  • Sparta Transit Hub
  • The Library of the Archmage

As of April 1st, 2014, Sparta took over the Southern region of Nova Vetronus.

Transit Hub

"'The Buck stops here"' - Truman

Architect: NetherSpartan5

Constructed: March 29th, 2014

Job/Purpose: To act as a source for all roads. So that there are no free-floating roads that make Sparta look like unorganized garbage on the Dynmap.

Blocks:

  • Spruce Logs
  • Coal Blocks
  • Stone Bricks
  • Glass Panes
  • Black Stained Clay
  • Black Carpet
  • Cobble Stone

Information: With a town that is projected to be the fifth-largest city in size, it needs to have a good transit system. But like I said before, an unplanned, unorganized transit system can seriously mess up any plans that you have in store. Above ground, four roads intersect into the hub, while the underbelly of the Hub is being prepared for the railroad system. One other key feature of this building is its the first building in Sparta to utilize the new "medieval"-style design. The last feature of this building, this is the first building ever constructed in the New Town. Although it's not the oldest (warfare's building takes the cake) it is certainly a big milestone for Sparta.

What's Next?: I'm not sure what is going to be next. All I know is it will be a government building. A Capitol would be nice, but it would be a risky move without a proper residence. So I might do something small, like a Mining Business or something like that. A memorial would be another possibility, but I don't think Sparta needs a memorial at the moment. The only other building I could see being built is a PvP or Spleef Arena.

Off Topic: With the upcoming birthday of mine, I plan to do a Drop Party somewhere in Spawn. So keep your eyes peeled for any notifications on the forums. Items range from Diamonds to Enchanted Books, and hopefully I can add a Wither Skull or two.

The Mining Tavern

Down to the depths we go!

Architect: NetherSpartan5 (Sparta's Design), Thebaxix (Original Design)

Constructed: April 4th, 2014

Blocks:

  • Spruce Logs
  • Cobble Stone
  • Glass Panes
  • Stairs
  • Spruce Slabs
  • Wool (White and Light Gray)

Information: Wasn't quite what I was planning to build next, but it's key for the survival of the town right now. This... was one tough building. So after using a frame that a friend of mine used before, I decided to finish an exterior that took forever to brainstorm and build. They say hard work pays off, it did here. Anyways, this building is going to be used for two functions: 1). It will be the place I go to once I finish mining. 2). It will be the launch point for the underground Armory/Vault. So this is a small, yet big building. That being said, I think it is a cute little addition to the town of Sparta. I don't think I will be doing anything large, anytime soon. Once I get a proper size of funds, I will start to construct Arenas and other massive projects.

What's Next?: Nothing at the moment. I might start a little section of the Armory this week. But I'm only looking forward to the Viceroy at the beginning of next week.

Off Topic: The Drop Party will be held this Sunday or next Saturday, as I will be out of town Tuesday.

As of May 11th, 2014, Sparta is now under the leadership of sioustorm. I have stepped down to Co-Owner of Sparta, and will be leaving the project the time being (I can't leave the project all together due to the large amounts of flattened land).

For those of you wondering where I will be off to, I think I will head towards the Northwest, where there are a considerable amount of mountains. The new project I have in mind is to build a small village at the base of the mountain, and then inside the mountain, I will hollow it out to allow room for something special =). Anyways, I can't wait to see the ideas Treyvon (Couldn't resist it sious) has in store!
