Hello!  It's about time I started posted the build for Aelfheim.  Now that the Terraforming is complete, I've been building for about 3 months, and I've completed the first part of the first phase!

I'm not exactly sure how to begin reporting the progress on this, as I have a lot of Lore written up.  Eventually it will go in the Lore Wiki, but that has to be rebooted first.  And posting the Lore here isn't much of an option, since I'm pretty sure it'll be over the character limits.

For now, I'll just post the Dynmap pictures.  I have build pics I can post, too, but those are on my other computer and it's having issues right now. 

So all that to say, here's Aelfheim v1.1!

The wall lines for the Bluff Curtain are just markers right now.  They won't be raised until the end of Phase 2.

I've started construction on Phase 1.2, the first part of the Easterlies Harbor.  After that, I'll start on the first part of the Castle!

I'm really pleased with how this is going so far!  It's going to take several IRL decades to fully build out the Kingdom, but that's what I wanted when I started!  Feel free to discuss here....eventually all the important stuff will go on the Lore Wiki and this thread will be all discussion, and update notifications.

All this amazingness and I only have one question.....

How did you plan the build for your planning department without a preexisting planning department set up to plan to build an Aelfheim planning department?

 

Just kidding, it's going to look awesome. I can't wait to see it in 10 or so years 😉

If we don't study the mistakes of the future, we're doomed to repeat them for the first time.

Haha, thanks, Mac!

The Pre-existing Planning Department still exists....the one in-game is just a symbol of the real one.  I have an extremely large Google Spreadsheet that has been my "Planning Department" for the last 2.5 years and longer.  It govern's coordinates of the seven claims that make up Aelfheim, the concepts I'm working to implement, the phasing of the builds, and many other things.  Eventually it'll govern the residential purchases and player subclaims as I make them.

Thanks, though, I'm pleased with how it's looking.  If I can keep up the quality and a decent pace of construction, I agree, it's going to look awesome!

The first mega-structure of Aelfheim has been completed!

I wanted to do some of the castle first, but I realized for the sake of visitors and proper pacing that I needed to establish the transportation system first.  Especially since I've already gotten requests for portal connections.

I give you....the Aelfheim Transit center!

As those who have talked to me in-game know, the size of it is far larger than I thought it would be, but being built on a slope, and serving the needs I had for it, it was inevitable when done properly.

Four rail lines converge at this location:

  • Red Line: the Aelfheim Circulator which will hit many of the outer districts
  • Blue Line: the Core Circulator which will hit the inner districts
  • Yellow Line: the Northern Route which goes from here to the northern edge of where I'll be building.
  • One of the Orange Lines: The Orange Lines are going to be my Spur and Connectors.  This one is a short line going from the Harbor and Welcome Hall to the Transit Center. Thusly.

Right now the Orange is the only active line.  A segment of the Blue will be next, going into Aelfen City near where the Castle gates will be.  There will be other rail lines that don't reach this station.  The Green Line will circle around the mainland districts to the north, the Purple Line will spur off the Red and go down to the desert areas.  There will also be a Gray Line that will be inside the Outwall, eventually.  Note, for those who happen to be building close to Aelfheim, I'll be more than happy to discus regional rail systems.

As for portals, there is potential for:

  • 8 Portal Airships
  • 12 Portal Balloons
  • Nearby access (via that Orange Line) to 4 Portal Ships, and my own Ship to Spawn

I'm pretty proud of the structure itself.  Like all the other structures in Aelfheim, it's wired with redstone.  Aside from the flagpoles, a flip of a switch in the basement will turn off ALL the lights.  There's also room for Transit Planning, Center Administration, a Control Tower, and a Lounge.
