Or let him get a small ship to Capetown, then a bigger one to Freya.

 

As for the railroads, I don't know what state the railroads around Capetown are in, I know my connection with the main line is still grieved but what about the Pauli lines? Is Tahone still connected well to both West and South?

The Trymaer lines are still functional, except for some griefed areas around ADM.  I plan on making a Res'd and better connection to the West Line at some point, and Res'ing down to the Terminal.  With Navarro and Palmanova mostly inactive, expansion of the system is slow, but I think if Dalf can get him to the system then the others should be able to get to the main lines as well.

Oka, I know that the line goes through Palmanova an through Swaggtown, but past this point I have no idea where it goes, if anywhere.  I am almost certain it does not yet connect between Trymaer and Okaem.

We also can't ignore the importance of roads now, with horses being potentially faster than minecarts.

He doesn't want it to connect to Freya, which is probably the most logical connector.  He just wants to connect it to the cities in the screen shot above.  Imo it doesnt seem valid considering its an island.  Also, every rail rout presented in that pic goes through the islands of Alexandria and Freya, which are built up and mostly res'd, making it a difficult task to even make its own standalone rail unless its really deep underground or goes around the island.

Yeah, if you don't want to connect to the larger network, then you should rather consider portal ships.  

Trying to make a rail system like that and avoid the VRS would be a nightmare, and would cost a fortune to build and Res it.  The VRS is already mostly Res'd, and the already existing Trymaer rails will be eventually.  I can't tell you how many times powered rails get griefed when they're not Res'd.

If it's aboveground, then Freya is the ONLY connector.  The server isn't going to approve bridges long enough to avoid it, I'm sure.  Going underground, you're going to encounter peoples mines and other deep works, and new builds won't know it's there, making it a general nuisance if the start digging.

I think ive come up with a solution to almost all the problems.

 

First of all, the tunnel is around the height of 17 which means it doesnt really interrupt most residences.

Secondly, the picture of Echoz does not really work well, because the lines arent like directly to Oz, its just 2 lines, also the rails to Tahone doesnt go to Tahone, but the Koernsend (sorry if thats my fault)

 

And at last: we arent gonna res it, why? becuase no need to. We are not gonna use the regular rails (well, for Koernsend we are) but we are going to use a very easy, cheap and fast way of traveling. Its boat travelling. U can see what i mean in this video: feature=share&list=UU5I1-qXqPvQwHAmoW7IF5Eg this also means that IF we get griefed (and most likely not because its only boats what were using) then we can easily repair it just by placing some new boats :D

 

Take this in concideration.

The first and second points are still very important, since you should probably know where those tunnels ARE going to go before you start.  For instance, if you pass close to Highmoor, you're likely to be stopped by my Res.  What if you dug for 1000 blocks only to find you've ended up in someone's sub-basement?

The main issue now, though, is the fact that you're planning to use boats.  Abandoned boats are destroyed on sight since they are dynamic content.  This means that whenever the chunks are loaded, even if it's someone on the surface or just in the area not using the boats, them being loaded uses additional server resources.  With this proposal, you're talking about a boat every 3 blocks, meaning dozens of server entities for every chunk area loaded.  So using boats would violate the build rule regarding dynamic content.

In addition, while I cannot be certain, I am pretty convinced that using boats in this manner would be considered an "exploit," which would not be allowed on VeteranCraft.  One of the higher-ups may be able to back that up or refute it.

All my amazing plans for the Oz railways has just been vanished :( I dont know why, but it looks like every option of having a railway is not possible, all my ideas have to be cut off. I dont feel like building it anymore because there is always a reason to knock my plans off. Well ye, This was th end of Oz railways (even tho Koerner still wants to do the Oz-koernsend rail)....

 

Well I hope u smart people can come up with an other idea then... Please tell me, because living alone on an island is more fun if its connected to my friends' places. I dont want to complain the whole time about something. I dont mean to look very angry or something, im just a little disappointed because my plans are not able to come true.

 

Please come up with some better ideas since mine are not allowed or not able to be made.

I'm sorry they're not going to work, Dan.  If you didn't have to cross the entirety of established Vetronia multiple times, rail lines might have worked.  The boat-spam thing, though, never on VC.

As for your options, we've already mentioned them. Smile  You're more than welcome to establish portal ships between the locations you desire for 10k shillings each.  And if your heart is set on rail you're welcome to tie into the existing systems with your own spurs.

The one rail connection that shouldn't be a problem at all is connecting to SuperSheep, so go right ahead.  Remember, though, if you're going to do it above the ocean you need bridge approval.

Owh, well, yes i was already planning to make a rail to Sheeps island.(i wont be making a rail above water, just underneath the Ocean bed)

And yes, of course i want to make portals to my friend, but i simply dont have money enough to build the portals. 10k is just too much for me. But ye, maybe someday, somehow i will be able to afford them.

I am just posting to reinforce LightWarriorK's post. The boat system you referenced would be an abuse of dymanic content, and would be punishable if created.

As he has already stated, opt instead for a portal ship. If you can't afford it, save up and work hard.
