for all new players, one of the most enticing things is to build, be part of a city. this has caused many to pop up all over the place and many have turned out great. but a big problem are the ones that are partially built or abandond. Devilof85 posted in his city tab that he found one and took it, and i know that ive been looking at one for a while wondering if i can take it. are there a set of guidelines to when and how you can take a city? if not maybe we should establish what and abandond city is and when it can me taken or torn down

I wondered about this topic the last week or so, myself.

Stated in the rules, somewhere... that any abandoned buildings, chests, or cities that were built by someone who has left, gone elsewhere, or banned become server property.  Thus; dealt with by the server's staff.  Given the nature of population progression, and their own projects to work on, I've noticed a decline in tear-downs.

When  I say that, it is by no means to be taken insultingly (*fends off the ban hammer*).  Mods are busy, I understand that... just watch the ban reports on a friday afternoon, lmao.

That being said, however... with staff permission, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing old cities being taken over by someone new.  It's 100% (in my opinion) better to start with something that's already been abandoned, than to start a new city with the possibility of abandonment.  It's cruel to look at it that way, but many players don't grasp the concept that their city may, or may not succeed.  Personally, I can't commit to building a "city".  So I simply provide for others, either with work, sculpture, or shilling donations.

I would much rather see one of the abandoned cities get revamped, and left behind for someone in the future to take over once again, than to see another piece of land get flattened/terraformed/destroyed.  Only to be left behind because m... "oh look, shiny!"

i realized that devil, i just asked for thesake of the communitly. and partially, because i had a fear that the city i had my wye on waas the one you took over =P

fear desolved btw

@tswg

very good point, and with the influx of new players that will be randomly building their cities, it will be more and more commen, i think a big problem though will be places like Eden. many players have moved there and it seems to be growing faster than Avolon. if a few of the pople nearer to the wall are banned or leave, what whould happen for the rest of the town (poor example but i hope you guys get the picture) also what would happen if the head of a city leaves, can someone else take the crow?

abandond structures are becomeing more frequent and i think the air should be cleared about this topic.

Takedowns have been on the upswing from what I've seen, but if there are areas you are interested in seeing removed, please leave me a thread on the take down request forum. It's just under ban requests.
It is something we can't keep track of on our own, so we're reaching out to players to help us find these places.
Once they're posted, they're gone before the day is out.
