I'm not entirely sure what's causing the outage, but rest assured it should be back up as soon as possible.

For future references, if you are having problems connecting to Veterancraft and you think it is a larger issue, please provide as much information as possible. Posting "is the server down?" provides us with very little information that we can use to trace problems, if they exists. We take Veterancraft availability very serious and nondescript messages put our tech staff in paranoid mode and without more information its like looking for a needle in a haystack.

In regards, to the current issue. There is a good chance that Mojang's is still having problems with their authentication server. Over that few days that server has been unresponsive at different times of the day. Its probably some programmer not doing enough test and validation before releasing changes, or it could be another protest attack or similar on Mojang's servers.

From past experience, the easiest way to find a needle in a haystack is to not look for it. Have a little romp with the wife or girlfriend on the haystack and I guarantee you will find it within 10 minutes Laugh

Earlier today, I just happened to look in the console, and noticed the server seemed to get stuck during a restart. So I manually shut down and started up. It solved the issue.

This post is for the sake of documentation.

I took a look at the logs for today and it seems that FragNet's database server croaked for a while.

LOL mack!!! You missed the point which was simply that when you ask a question about server status (assuming that you are having problems connecting) that you provide extra information such as what you tried, what you saw, what error messages occurred, time, how many times you've tried, or any other information that you might think useful.

You have to remember, we are not sitting there right next to you when problems happen. So the more information you can provide, the better. We're not perfect either. For example, Meat didn't post the fact that he had to restart the server until several hours later. If we all lived under the same roof or worked in the same office, this wouldn't be a problem; but the whole lot of us is distributed all over the world, in different time zones, and lives. Thus, TMI is better than TLI. Smile

These comments are directed at everyone, not just you. You just happen to be the one to bring it to light. Like I said, we take server availability serious. Instead of ignoring nondescript posts, we have a responsibility to check things out, even if they may be false alarms (this case wasn't). The more information we have, the quicker we can drill down to the problems and fix it. The less information we have, the more time it takes away from other tasks until we've had a chance to find problems, fix them, or determine that none existed.
