I have completed as much testing as I can reasonable do. Hopefully, I have uncovered most of the gotchas, but I’m certain you guys will probably find an oddity here or there anyways. I would have loved to take advantage of the lull on the server this morning to perform an upgrade, but I need sleep and I have other obligations in the afternoon.
As it stand right now, I expect to start upgrades late afternoon, early evening (approx 5-6 PM EST). The upgrades should to take no more than 90 minutes to complete. It could be as short as 30 minutes, but I’m not making any promises. After that, there will be more prep work to prepare Seraph’s Realm including pre-generating chunks. This will most likely cause some lagginess on the server for a few hours.
Here is a highlight of the changes:
- Obviously, MC 1.3.1 support. After the upgrade you can safely upgrade your client. If you have questions about what is new or how to use things, please see the Minecraft Wiki. Don’t pester players or our staff about things that you can find out for yourself.
- Seraph’s Realm. I will be adding a third world – Seraph’s Realm – to the mix. As with the Outer Reaches, this world will be 8K x 8K, PvP, and weather enabled. It has plenty of villages, temples, and every a few more shroom biomes. THIS IS PURELY EXPERIMENTAL. If it causes significant performance issues, we will hold off on until the end of the month.
- The Outer Reaches will remain unchanged.
- mcMMO special ability durations have been increased for the following donor classes: Bishop – 4 seconds, Ambassador – 8 seconds, Viceroy – 12 seconds.
- mcMMO special ability cooldowns have been reduced for the following donor classes: Bishop – 25%, Ambassador – 33%, Viceroy – 50%
- Residence selection bug fixed and new flag support. See Residence Wiki for details.
- Staff has the ability to jail players. Mess up and you might find yourself a temporary resident in Vetropolis’s prison.
- Multiverse NetherPortal has been patched to provide better The End support. All end portals will lead to Vetronia’s end world regardless of the world in which they are located. The final portal (after boss kill) will return players to Vetronia’s spawn point.
- Exits to The End have been tightened up. No more /spawn or /res tp. Kill the dragon or be killed.
- JCDoorman supports multi-line messages to provide more information, if necessary, when server is in whitelist mode.
- Server restart times have been reduced from 6 to 4 per day (i.e. every 6 hrs). Restart times are now 3:06, 9:06, 15:06, and 21:06 EST.
Seraph’s Realm will not be available for at least another 12-24 hours. As mentioned above, there are additional tasks that must be accomplished after the upgrade before the new world opens up.
